The Basics

No surprise, this stellar national museum gets crowded. Consider purchasing a skip-the-line ticket, which lets you head right inside. To maximize your experience of the Rijksmuseum, visit with a licensed art historian, either as a private guide or on a group tour. Or combine a canal cruise with a skip-the-line ticket, allowing you to see the museum on your own schedule.

The number one must visit place in the city
I will start off by thanking our tour guide Anna for being one of the best tour guides I’ve come across. Very professional and knowledgeable, she’s also curious and loves to engage. The Rijks museum is the best place I visited in Amsterdam. Enjoy the park afterwards if the weather is good…

Private Tour: The Best of Rijksmuseum, Rembrandt and Vermeer (skip-the-line)
We are absolutely thrilled that Kaleigh was our guide on this tour. She is very knowledgeable as she is the Art History Major. Thus, we truly learned a lot during this tour. We appreciated all her insights and for making sure that we saw the main highlights of the Rijksmuseum. Even though two hours is not enough time to see everything, we do highly recommend this tour to anyone.

Entrance to the Amsterdam Rijksmuseum & Amsterdam Self-Guided City Tours
This was a great experience and the staff were very helpful. We found it a little confusing to navigate thru but once we got the hang of it it was OK. The bathrooms were clean and they have free lockers for your backpacks, etc.

Rijksmuseum Inside Out: Skip the Line Private Tour
Marten is an awesome tour guide! He’s very lively and keeps everyone engaged, very knowledgeable and we learned a lot from him. Definitely way better than going and looking at the museum priceless items without having any background.

Rijksmuseum Amsterdam Small-Group Guided Tour
Our guide for 11 AM 8/4/22 was great. She was a museum studies graduate/ student, she had a talent for edging the group in front of major works, and her insights about the historical context of the artwork was fantastic. She had the ability to drop a few witty remarks in without it ever feeling like she had said it all before to some other group. Really good tour.

Private Tour: Amsterdam Rembrandt Art Walking Tour Including Rijksmuseum
This was a very informative private tour about Rembrandt's life as well as the city of Amsterdam. Our guide took us through many areas of the city where we learned so much more than we would have just touring on our own. We were given some information once inside the museum but then left on our own to explore. The museum has a wonderful lunch spot which we were able to enjoy.

Pretty basic tour of the most famous paintings in the museum. Problem confirming my reservation, which was made 2 months in advance, didn’t help matters

Skip-the-line Rijksmuseum & Van Gogh Museum Amsterdam Guided Private Tour
Anna was so knowledgeable and just a delight to spend the day with! Highly recommend this tour! We were lucky enough to have Anna to ourselves in the morning for the Riksmuseum and then in the afternoon, there was 8 total in the group which made it very easy to follow and hear everything!
