Angkor Archaeological Park, Cambodia, 17000

The Basics

In order to understand the history of Cambodia and Southeast Asia, a visit to Angkor Archaeological Park, site of Angkor Thom as well as iconic Angkor Wat, is a must. The temples Baphuon and Bayon are within the Angkor Thom complex, while much-photographed Ta Prohm lies to the east, an evocative ruin where trees once forced their way through intricately carved stone.

You can visit Angkor Thom as part of a full-day temple tour by tuk-tuk or air-conditioned vehicle: tours typically include a sunrise visit to Angkor Wat temple. Private tours can be customized according to personal interests, while a VIP helicopter tour offers a bird’s-eye view of the entire complex, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, making it ideal for visitors with limited time.

Angkor Wat at its best
This was an excellent tour. The guide, whom I think was named Chin, was so helpful, polite, intelligent, knowledgeable. Would thoroughly recommend this tour, particularly with him. He managed to take photos for us, and even tho there were hundreds of other people in the vicinity, in the photos there is just us and the background.

The tour is excellent for anyone looking to get a good overview of the major religious sites of Siem Reap, Temple. Our tour guide spoke excellence English, and provided us with a lot of good information about the sites and Siem Reap in general throughout the tour. He was also helpful in recommendations for Cambodia. I heartily recommend this tour and guide.

Full Day Angkor Tour from sunrise by Tuk Tuk
We were picked up on time and our guide was excellent. We saw a beautiful sunrise then had breakfast at a small cafe opposite Angkor Watt before entering into the historical area. Our guide was charming and very knowledgable. We came away from Angkor Watt better informed and much more appreciative of this wonder of the world

Private Tour: (Avoid Crowds & Heat) 2-Day Angkor Temples
My friend and I spend an incredible 2 days touring the temples around Siem Reap with tour guide Tai and driver Mr. Long. We learned so much and saw so many beautiful things while in the comfort of a air-conditioned car with snacks, cold water and lemongrass scented cool towels. Would highly recommend this experience!!!!!!?

Angkor Full-Day Tour (by Join-In MiniBus)
We had a great day with Cherry he was informative and good humoured. It was a very hot day but he kept us in the shade as much as possible. We opted for the set lunch which was ok but not all dishes were to our taste. Be prepared for a very long day

Angkor Wat Private Tour in a Tuk Tuk
This is the only way to see the temples in Cambodia. Private Tuk Tuk. The price is great and the experience is unforgettable. Our guide was Phuy Phy and he was such a nice man. He was very knowledgeable about all of the temples. They had water on hand for us to drink and cold towelettes. Everything about this was a great experience. I would recommend this to anyone who is considering seeing Angkor Wat and surrounding temples. Best guide ever and best way to get around Cambodia.

Full-day Small-Group Angkor Wat Tour from Siem Reap with English Speaking Guide
We had small group of six. Tour was well organized and the guide gave us good information during the tour. We visited three temples - Angkor Wat, Bayon Temple and Ta Prohm Teple. Angkor Wat was impressive, but Bayon Temple was my favourate (a lot of character) They provided enough water during the tour.

Full-day Small-Group Angkor Wat Tour from Siem Reap with English Speaking Guide
Only in Siem Teap for a short visit, so this tour provided a highlight tour (Angkor Wat, Ta Proehm, and Angkor Thom/Bayon. Plenty of inside information (and cold water) was provided to enhance the tour. Only ten people in our group so the size was very manageable.

Angkor Heritage 2 Days Private Tours
Large sample of temples - the major ones but also less popular ones that were worth seeing. Knowledgeable guide (Mr. Sara) and good driver. On time. Always ensured we were comfortable. Well planned itinerary. Flexible - included stop at (very worthwhile) land mine museum on request.

2 Days Private Angkor Tour, Small Tour, Big Tours, Bantey Srei, Sunrise & Sunset
We only had two days for this tour and it was a great one to hit the highlights! We got the most out of our time. The tour operator and our guide were very flexible with our itinerary as we wanted to swap days...No problem! Air conditioned car and lots of cold water. Great time, highly recommend this tour especially if you don't have much time in the area!

How to Orient Yourself in Angkor Thom

Some elevation will help you make sense of the layout; head for the Terrace of the Elephants or nearby Terrace of the Leper King, both with intricate carvings, or the hilltop Phnom Bakheng, particularly popular at sunset. Among the myriad other points of interest are the temples of East Mebon and Pre Rup, built in the same temple-mountain style as Angkor Wat.
