Güell Palace (Palau Güell)

Calle Nou de la Rambla 3-5, Barcelona, Catalonia, 08001

The Basics

Built in the 1880s, the 7-story Palau Güell is an early example of art nouveau and modernism adapted for domestic use. The imposing facade features two parabolic arches with wrought iron grille, and has Arabic, Byzantine, and Mudejar forms throughout. Note the impressive central hall, covered by a dome with star-pricked ceiling, and don’t miss the roof and its 20 colorful chimneys.

Explore Palau Güell on your own or on a guided tour. Visits to Palau Güell can be combined with sightseeing tours covering other masterpieces by Antoni Gaudí, including Sagrada Familia, Park Güell, Casa Batlló, and Casa Milà, or other Barcelona neighborhoods such as the Barri Gòtic, El Born, and Barceloneta. Or visit on a hop-on hop-off bus to explore the city at your leisure.

The Most Complete Full Day Private Tour with Sagrada Familia and Park Guell
Our tour guide Fred was both knowledgeable and personable. He paced our 6 hour tour perfectly by taking a break for coffee at the famous 'Els Quatre Gats' where Picasso dined with other artistic types and then another break to have a taste of local drink and tapas. Of course, the main meal were the wonderful highlights of Barcelona that Fred took us to including a walk through the amazing sights of the Barri Gotic neighborhood and the Park Guell followed by dropping us off to explore Barcelona's key Guadi's unfinished work, La Sagrada Familia. Highly recommend this tour. Fred, many, many thanks to you for a wonderful first full day in this amazing cit.

The sites, sounds and food were amazing but the best part of the tour was Pedro, our guide. Pedro’s knowledge, sense of humor and energy in sharing his love of Barcelona was truly the highlight. From the moment we met in the morning until our goodbyes in the late afternoon, we never had a dull moment. Thanks to Pedro, we had a wonderful immersion into the history of the city, the architecture, and the people. Park Guell, La Sagrada Familia were certainly highlights but the walks down alleyways to hidden squares and markets were equally as enjoyable. Having a beer at Eli’s 4Gats where Picasso, Hemingway and Orwell hung out was very cool. I highly recommend the tour and Pedro.

My tour guide was prompt and professional. She had s vast knowledge of the history of Barcelona and explained in details all the architectural styles of the famous architects. The tour was paced appropriately and we took the necessary breaks ( b/room, coffee) The tapas taller was fantastic. Visiting The Parc Güell was a beautiful experience. La Sagrada Familia was absolutely the best! Mel Farías is kind, friendly, professional and knowledgeable. We enjoyed meeting her! I think the price is appropriate. The length of the tour is excellent because it gave us a extensive historic view of Barcelona.

We had a great time with our private tour guide Fred, knowledgeable and took time to explain. It is a very busy tour, did not expect as much walking, but very interesting.
