The Magnificent Mile

Michigan Avenue, Chicago, Illinois

The Basics

The Magnificent Mile is one of the most prestigious sections of pavement in the country—a Chicago must-do, even if you’re only window-shopping. Its central location and prominent place in the city’s cultural landscape mean it's featured on just about every sightseeing tour, whether on foot, bus, bicycle, trolley, or Segway. To get a sweeping view of the Magnificent Mile, head up to 360 Chicago, an observation deck inside the John Hancock building.

We braved the boat tour in below freezing weather. And it was great!! I learned quite a bit in that small time frame. I would highly recommend!

45-Minute Chicago River Architecture Tour from Magnificent Mile
We’re a family of 5 & it’s our first time here in Chicago. The tour ticked a lot of boxes: affordable, informative, amusing (Bobby, our tour guide) & most importantly, outdoors. My family thoroughly enjoyed it in spite of the cold weather. I’ll certainly recommend this to family & friends.

Tour provided a lot of history and information about Chicago with a little humor to keep it fun and capture your attention. Wasn’t as cold as we expected for December either! Great way to see the buildings from a different perspective.
