Dubai Museum

Al Fahidi Fort, Al Fahidi Street, Dubai

The Basics

Housed in Dubai’s oldest structure—built in 1787—the Dubai Museum gives visitors insight into a side of the city hard to imagine amid all the ultramodern skyscrapers. The museum is a highlight on many city tours, along with other popular Dubai attractions such as the Jumeirah Mosque, Burj Al Arab, Burj Khalifa, Dubai Creek, and the Gold and Spice souks.

My husband & I had SUCH a great time with Mahmoud!! We did the 5:30pm tour and it was beautiful to see the sunset colors & Old Dubai lit up at night. It felt like a totally private tour (was only us 2 and Mahmoud), and he took care of us so well! Great snacks and treats all along the way, and he helped us bargain for lower prices in the souks! He’s the man!! Would veey highly recommend this tour - learned so much more about Dubai and especially the history and culture! It’s an 11/10 from us.

Big Bus Dubai Hop-On Hop-Off Tour
Nice narrated tour with many available languages. However only 1 bus per hour, therefore if you miss the bus at a stop, you will have to wait another hour. The problem is that you don't really know when the bus is coming as it doesn't follow the schedule. We had to wait for 30 minutes passed the scheduled pick up time at stop 6 (Gold Souq). The actual schedule did not strictly follow the map as stops 8 and 9 were swapped. I found it a little too expensive compared to other Viator offerings...

Dubai full day tour with Entry ticket to Burj Khalifa at the Top
Overall the tour was good. However I suggest that the tour guide wait for people as they exit Burj Khalifa instead of leaving them to find there way back to the tour bus. Also he sold bottle water that I think he should have given to us as tourist since it was an 8 hour day. I would recommend it.

Muhammed did a great job sharing the old town with us. He moved at a pace that worked well for our all ages group, he was engaging, funny, and full if interesting information. Also, the food and drink encorporated into this tour was a nice surprise. I highly recommend!

History of Al Fahidi Fort

Located on the southern shores of Dubai Creek, the 200-year-old Al Fahidi Fort was built at what was then the edge of urban Dubai to lend protection to the city. Throughout its history, the building served as an arsenal for weapons and artillery, and as a prison before it became a museum in 1971.
