The Health Museum Tours and Activities
The Health Museum in Houston is an interactive learning center focused on health, medical science and the human body. Although only one floor, the attraction is perfect for families who want to get their children interested in these subjects in an engaging way, as they are able to touch and interact with permanent and rotating exhibits.
Start your visit by taking part in the different brain teasers and challenges, each one focusing on a different muscle. In terms of permanent exhibits, “Amazing Body Pavilion,” allows visitors the chance to literally explore the human body by walking through one, sitting on giant teeth, strolling through an enormous brain and riding a bike with a skeleton. There is also a sound room where you can cover your ears and scream as loud as you can to have the noise level measured.
“You: The Exhibit” is another interesting attraction within the museum, allowing visitors to see how they will look in 30 years, measure their life span, predict their height, change your gender or race and scan your internal organs. Undoubtedly, the highlight of their permanent exhibits is the McGovern 4D Theater, which brings health and science to life for even the most uninterested person. Right now, “Planet You 3D” is showing, which depicts your own skin as the unworldly landscape for creepy creatures like deer ticks, dust mites and bacteria. Talk about being uncomfortable in your skin.
Seasonal exhibits on topics like insects, healthy eating, the sociology of human skin and more are also offered.
