  • The Aquarium is one of the top attractions in Livorno, so be sure to book tickets in advance to skip the line at the entrance.

  • Kids especially love walking through the glass tunnel beneath eagle rays and pelagic stingrays.

  • It takes about an hour to visit the aquarium and terrace.

  • Both the ground and upper floors are accessible to wheelchairs and strollers.

How to Get There

The aquarium is located on the Terrazza Mascagni on Livorno’s seafront, a short walk from the center of town and the cruise port. A number of bus routes from the train station and the port stop nearby.

When to Get There

The aquarium is a family favorite and can be very crowded on weekends and during the summer months. Visit in the morning or late afternoon to avoid the busiest times in summer, or plan to tour in the quieter spring and fall seasons.

Terrazza Mascagni

The heart of Livorno is the Terrazza Mascagni, a 20th-century seafront promenade known for its elegant balustrade and black-and-white checkerboard pavement. In addition to the panoramic walkway, a park, and the aquarium, the terrace has a bandstand and often hosts music concerts and other performances.
