The Basics

Mt. Vesuvius is easily seen from below, but a trip to the volcano itself provides the best understanding of the area and its impact on the region’s history. A hike up the mountain begins in Mount Vesuvius National Park, which has nine nature trails and allows for summit access. The crater’s lunar landscape is otherworldly, and the views are tough to beat. Many visitors combine a visit to the area with a stop in the scenic seaside town of Sorrento.

Our tour guides Vincenzio and Angela were very informative. They took care of us especially when my wife had an allergic reaction to her pudding. Angela took her responsibility for her safety

Mt. Vesuvius and Pompeii Day Trip from Naples all inclusive
This trip was fantastic. You could spend all day in Pompeii just looking around. I wish we had more time with that. The climb up Vesuvius gives you spectacular views.

Mt. Vesuvius and Pompeii Day Trip from Naples all inclusive
The guide, Francesca, was very helpful and friendly. My tip is to stay in Sorrento if possible. Never been there but it can't be worse than Naples which is pretty grim.

Pompeii, Mt Vesuvius and Wine Tour
We had the most amazing day. Pippo was an excellent driver and guide. He picked us up from our hotel in Naples. We started the tour walking up to Vesuvius in the morning before the heat. Then on to wine tasting and lunch . Met our guide for Pompei which was amazing! They dropped us at our place in cetara. The perfect start to our week.

Private Full-Day Tour to Pompeii and Mt. Vesuvius with Winery Visit
Giovanni, our guide, was on time and very kind and knowledgable of the area. Although the roads were narrow and curvy, Giovanni safely delivered to Vesuvius. The winery visit was next and the tour guide, servers, food, wine tasting and grounds were phenomenal! Our last stop was Pompeii. Giovanni was unable to guide us during this tour. If you are unfamiliar with Pompeii, I definitely recommend hiring a guide. Highly recommend this tour!

Mt. Vesuvius and Pompeii Day Trip from Naples all inclusive
We went on a really hot day so touring Pompeii and following explanations of the guide was hard work. We didn't get long to explore the museum area either. We had a lovely pizza lunch half way up Vesuvius and just the right amount of time to walk up and look around the summit. Transport all worked very smoothly.

The guide was super patient and thorough with our tour, despite the brutal heat and plentiful crowds, we had a great time. Both the ruins and the volcano were must-see locations and I'd recommend it to anybody!

The Eruption That Changed History

It’s impossible to understand the impact that Mt. Vesuvius had on Italy—and the world—without a visit to the nearby archaeological sites of Pompeii and Herculaneum. Though many people tragically died in the volcanic eruption, their homes and ways of life remain largely intact in one of the world’s best-preserved ancient sites.
