Rose Island, Nassau, Bahamas

The Basics

A short, 25-minute boat ride east of New Providence Island whisks you away from crowds and ashore this intimate corner of paradise. Take a dip in the crystalline lagoon, sip a drink at the beachfront bar, or snooze in an oceanfront hammock. More active options include snorkeling, kayaking, and beach volleyball. If you’re interested in socializing, join in on the private island’s beach bar parties, for which party passes are available from various tour operators.

Full-day excursions to Rose Island usually include access to the pristine beaches, a buffet lunch or welcome drink, and most water sports. Guided snorkeling tours are available to explore the underwater world with the supervision of a guide, who points out the marine flora and fauna.

Private Full-day Swim with Turtles and Beach Trip Sailing to Rose Island
Captain Wellie was very knowledgeable and entertaining. I do not know what I like better snorkeling with sea turtles at Green Key, snorkeling at the colorful reef at Rose island, or seeing our childhood memory Gilligan’s Island😎Captain Wellie was very accommodating and his signature rum punch was excellent.

WE SAIL IF AT LEAST TWO PEOPLE BOOK Sail to Beautiful Rose Island Beach
Captain Wellie was great! The boat was comfortable and Rose Island is beautiful with unreal clear water and soft sand (careful to not walk in the sharp black rocks though.) I enjoyed the snorkeling time.

The captain is amazing. We are a family of 4 and three of us don’t even know how to swim. He gave us life jacket and pretty much dragged us from the boat to the beach so we can enjoy the island. The best sailing experience ever.

Sandy Toes Full Day Excursion to Rose Island
The experience was amazing! And the drinks were also really good. The bar tenders were very nice. The pigs were huuuge and adorable, I wish they spent more time in the water though. The only reason I gave 4 instead of 5 stars is because my snorkle was missing the mouth grip, and it was very uncomfortable.

Sandy Toes Full Day Excursion to Rose Island
Highly recommend Sandy Toes. The activities are great - especially the pig play time. And the staff is so well organized and friendly. The drinks are also well made and the lunch is more than satisfying. The Sandy Toes compound has everything one needs to have a good time and be comfortable (good restrooms, showers, lounge chairs). Lastly - the peacocks were a nice surprise.

A day in paradise with Sandy toes and half the clothes

Sandy Toes Full Day Excursion to Rose Island
Overall great day! Great atmosphere, location, guides and people! Great activities, nature oriented and of course, endless BOOZE! Only downside for me was the lack in variety of food, (no seafood) and the timing was short, felt more like a half day. Maybe if the departure was earlier in the morning AND later at the end of the day.

Nice tour but a bit overpriced if you don’t drink.

Sandy Toes Full Day Excursion to Rose Island
It was a nice fun tour. The boat surprisingly had a good number of people on it. Snorkeling wasn’t the greatest but it was definitely a nice way to relax a bit. Food was probably about a 3/5. Drinks were good. Tour was a bit overpriced if you don’t drink.

Sandy Toes Full Day Excursion to Rose Island
Was great all around day. The staff was great on the boat and the island. Lot to do while you are there, the corn hole was good time. Drinks are generous pours and the lunch was amazing. Very kid friendly. The pigs come right to you and are very friendly. Would recommend to anyone.

When to Get There

Most tour-goers from Nassau spend the entire day at Rose Island, so visitors can take advantage of all the activities and have plenty of time to lounge on the beach. The high season in the Bahamas, November through April, tends to be crowded but also has the best weather and low chance of rain. During this time, book your Rose Island excursion ahead of time.

Swimming Pigs

Animal lovers will want to book a Rose Island tour that also stops at Pig Beach on Big Major Cay. This beach is famous for its swimming pigs, who will paddle out to greet any boat in search of snacks and human interaction. No one is sure where these non-native pigs came from, but they sure make for great photo ops!
