The Basics

To join the hour-long, family-friendly Museum & Gold Vault tour, reserve your spot 30 days in advance on the New York Fed’s website. Or, consider a Wall Street, Lower Manhattan, or 9/11 Memorial walking tour. These excursions typically pass by the Fed building and discuss finance and neighborhood history.

New York: Alexander Hamilton's Haunts and Hangouts Tour
A great informative guide who answered all my questions. She combined the history of lower Manhattan with quotes from the musical. Plus it was an easy walk with stops at benches if needed.

New York: Alexander Hamilton's Haunts and Hangouts Tour
Understanding the history of the city and the world that the new nation was born out of - it was informative and engaging and a great way to spend 2 hours understanding the landscape from a geographic as well as political and relationships view point - worth it

New York: Alexander Hamilton's Haunts and Hangouts Tour
The best thing on this tour is the fantastic guide: Astrid. She is so knowledgeable about Hamilton's life (clearly, she has a strong passion for this tour and did a lot of homework, such as reading the Ron Chernow's book) and leads the tour in a story-telling fashion, which connects dots of Hamilton's life together seamlessly (from how Hamilton grew up, studied in NY, fought in wars, and died in a duel).

Informative and fun Hamilton Tour with Astrid

New York: Alexander Hamilton's Haunts and Hangouts Tour
Both my daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed our tour that was somewhere between two and three hours long (we totally lost track of time). If my daughter who is only twelve was able to maintain focus and attention for this amount of time, the tour had to have been quite compelling, which it was! Among the aspects she enjoyed were the references to the Hamilton musical and the church cemetery with the graves of Hamilton and his friends and family. A giant thank you to Astrid!

New York: Alexander Hamilton's Haunts and Hangouts Tour
This was the highlight of our trip! Astrid (our tour guide) was informative, personable, funny, excited about the subject, and the 2 hours flew by! She even found places for us to sit when she could to help rest while she shared history, anecdotes, and brought it all together for us.

New York: Alexander Hamilton's Haunts and Hangouts Tour
The guide (Alex) made you feel like you were on this tour with a friend. I feel that anyone can learn something new on this tour regardless on one’s familiarity with the story of Alexander Hamilton.

When to Get There

The Federal Reserve Bank gives tours Monday through Friday at 1pm and 2pm, except on American bank holidays. Show up 30 minutes before your scheduled tour to allow time for security screening. If you’ll be exploring Lower Manhattan as well, consider visiting in spring, late summer, or early autumn—New York’s temperate seasons.
