The Basics

The quarter’s main street, the Haussmann-designed Boulevard St Germain, is lined with chic boutiques and cafés with outdoor terraces, perfect for people-watching. Travelers have myriad options to explore the enchanting area as part of a half-day, full-day, group, or private sightseeing tour, each with a special focus, such as culture (museums, perfume workshops for kids, pétanque, jazz), food and wine (chocolate, charcuterie, macarons, and champagne tastings), and even fun Polaroid photo safaris. Transport on tours run the gamut too, from walking and cycling to Seine hop-on/hop-off cruises.

Saint-Germain The Original Chocolate, Pastries & Macaron Tasting Tour
This was my favorite tour while in Paris. Very informative and fun while walking beautiful Saint Germaine. We ate our way through six different chocolate and pastry shops. Highly recommend for anyone who has a sweet tooth and wants to do something “different” while in Paris.

Saint-Germain Flavors Sweet & Savory Food Tasting Tour
Got to visit really famous, historic shops - pastries, chocolate, confectionery- and a very quaint but old bistro for wine, cheese and charcuterie. Would have liked a bit more time to buy items. French chef was an excellent tour guide - very informative!

It was the perfect experience; a mixture of history, art, and food. A great way to learn about Saint Germaine Des Pres and I now have a list of tons of places I want to experience further that I never would have known about before.

Saint-Germain Flavors Sweet & Savory Food Tasting Tour
Great tour! We sampled incredibly delicious foods, got a sense of St Germain history and feel, and hung out it a popular local gathering spot for wine, delicious charcuterie, cornicons, cheese, and conversation. Best of all was our guide, Nicolas, who lives in the neighborhood and clearly loves it. He is knowledgeable, personable, and very nice. He really cared about our enjoyment and took great pleasure offering surprises along the way. Everyone had a great time.

Paris Prestige : Saint-Germain-Des-Prés Food Tour
Anaïs, one of the best tour guides I’ve had, explained the history of important places we passed as we walked from shop to shop, adding interest to what could have been “just a walk”. My love of desserts made visiting patisseries the highlight of the tour. Learning how some of the desserts were created was fascinating. The cheese shop was my second favorite. It’s was very quick pace to cover the itinerary in the allotted time.

Luxembourg Garden and Museum

One of the quarter’s most sublime pleasures is to spend time in the Luxembourg Garden (Jardin du Luxembourg). Marie de' Medici, the widow of King Henry IV, created these perfectly manicured lawns and flower beds placed around sumptuous fountains and pools as part of her palace here. Within the gardens is Paris’s oldest public museum, Musée du Luxembourg, which opened in 1750.
