Jean-Louis has degrees in both fine art (BA Fine Art) and teaching (Dip Ed, Art) and 30 years of experience teaching art to all ages - so you can be confident that you will receive expert tuition. We never need to go very far and most sessions are en plein-air, reached by foot, somewhere in or around the village. Being an historical and beautiful village Jouques offers many aspects that are inspirational for any artist. Our workshops can be customised to individual requirements and small groups. We also offer lovely accommodation, see 'Provence village experience' for bookings. Jouques is an easy 45 minute bus ride from Aix-en-Provence, or a 30 minute journey by car.

I will focus on the language and/or culture depending on your level and previous knowledge of the country. Our petanque lessons are available every day, all year long. The tour last at least 2 hours. First we'll teach you, only in English, the rules of the game along with a brief history of the sport. Then you'll learn how to handle the ball, throw, shoot, score, and master the fine art of disputing. You'll play competitive games of petanque (with a glass of rosé in your hand, of course!). Your hosts will also have some homemade Pastis for sampling. We will present the winning team with a commemorative trophy during an aperitif with pastis, rosé, red wine and traditional homemade Provencal snacks (pasta, tapenade, mushroom and goat cheese).

You will take a tour of the estate, then you will choose to take either a picnic or a tasting banquet. Finally, we suggest that you learn a little more about lavender in our workshops. Each workshop includes: • Gastronomic in which you can choose to participate in the creation of a lavender syrup, a lavender jelly or to create a tea or a lavender infusion. • Distillation where participants can observe a living distillation of lavender using the still process. • Manual where we offer the creation of either a Provencal shuttle, or a lavender sachet, or an air purifying stick with sage and lavender.

In each workshop, you will: • Parfumerie is managed by a perfumer who will share her knowledge and offer to create her own perfume in a 50 ml bottle. • Creation of cocktails hosted by a private bartender who will share his knowledge and offer to create a cocktail.

Cooking classes start at 9 a.m. with an appointment at the Cuisine Centr'Halles located inside the Les Halles d'Avignon market. We start with a visit to the Market to talk about local products, taste and especially create our menu together. We'll choose our ingredients and craft our menu, then head back to the kitchen for our class and cook our lunch. Lunch is included and consists of the menu we have prepared, water, wine and coffee. The full event ends at 1:30 p.m. Cooking demonstrations are a fun and light alternative to cooking classes. These begin at 9 a.m. with a meeting inside the market at the Cuisine Centr'Halles. We start with a market visit and tastings at some of my favorite vendors. We then return to the kitchen to prepare my tapenade recipes and some other daily preparations.

We offer different group activities, either a guided tour, a guided tour with a picnic or a guided tour with a tasting of seasonal regional products.

We propose you to live with us a real local activity: petanque! This ancestral game has become a real local sport. A "game of balls" is always followed by an aperitif: we will take it together in a friendly atmosphere. Whether you know how to play or not, the main thing is to spend a friendly moment around an ancient game! We will start the activity with a visit of the house of the ball, in the heart of the Basket, to get in the mood. After an explanation on the origin of the game and the place visited, we will launch hostilities a stone's throw away. It is on the Esplanade de la Major that together we will try the art of petanque. After an hour of intense play, it will be time for a well deserved local aperitif! Good humor and convivilaité will be the key words.

Marseille: a very complex identity and a great diversity. It's a perfect subject for photography ... Whether you like landscapes, architecture, street photography, portraits or art, your eye will find its interest. I will assist you in the use of your device, its understanding, the composition of your photographs and other technical points. We will be able to choose our itinerary and our objects of attention in adaptation to your needs and the circumstances of the moment. I suggest you start from the camera and what makes you want to go to the future use of the cliché. There is nothing obligatory, few forbidden and a creation of the moment.

You are invited to visit the Meraki workshop where the experience will take place. Before we begin we will talk about the basic principles of binding, materials and features of tools. Then you would be invited to choose the handmade paper for the cover of your notebook, as well as the color of the thread and other details. You will be accompanied throughout your DIY experience to have as a result a beautiful book of Japanese technique done by yourself. At the end of the workshop we will be able to stroll to the district of the creators of Cours Julien. The workshop is suitable for children who are used to handling scissors and must be accompanied by an adult.
