Sólheimajökull Glacier
3,731 Reviews
Among Iceland’s most famous peaks, the notoriously difficult-to-pronounce Eyjafjallajökull volcano made headlines when it erupted in 2010, spewing an enormous cloud of volcanic ash that grounded air traffic all across Europe. The imposing, ice-capped volcano has three main peaks, the tallest of which reaches 5,417 feet (1,651 meters).

Half-day Glacier Hiking at Sólheimajökull
Sólheimajökull is an outlet glacier of the Mýrdalsjökull, Iceland’s 4th largest glacier on the South Coast of Iceland. We will meet you at the parking lot where you will strap on a pair of crampons grab your ice pick and helmet and hike on the ice, exploring glacial features and learning about it’s formation.
You'll experience first hand how it is to walk on ice, to take the twists and turns on pathways through crevasses and to use your ice axe to make it up steep slopes on pure glacial ice.
We operate only in small groups, and we have a passionate team of guides who love their jobs. We think this will show.
We like to spend as much time as we can on the glacier, we the guides enjoy this as much as the customers do.
As we only operate one tour per day, we are not in a rush to get back for the next group arriving.
You will be our focus for the day, and no one else.
