The Basics

Travelers in DC can cruise along the Potomac River on a sunset dinner cruise, water taxi, Washington monuments cruise, DC duck tour, or even a cherry blossom springtime sail. Alternatively, keep your feet on solid ground and admire the Potomac from the Mount Vernon Trail or the East and West Potomac Parks. The latter—a stop on many sightseeing tours—is home to several popular monuments, including the Jefferson Memorial and the Martin Luther King Jr. National Memorial.

Washington DC Sightseeing Tour with Photo Stops & Seasonal Potomac River Cruise
We were very pleased with this tour. It had the right amount of group members, bus riding, and walking. The bus was clean, comfortable, and the driver (Chris),provided cold bottled water. We stopped at all of the sites that we wanted to see. Our guide (Tyrone) was personable, knowledgable and entertaining.

Excellent your and well worth the price. We chose the DC your with Potomac River cruise. We loved it and our guide Tyrone was engaging and fun! I have been on three DC yours and this is the best one. Very well organized and they picked us up at hotel. I found the stops and ability to walk around gave us a good view of DC all around. I was nervous about booking this but have no regrets!

Great experience! We loved our tour guide, Tyrone. He was personable and attentive. My husband has difficulties walking but we were still able to see all the major sites without walking for days.

Washington DC Sightseeing Tour with Photo Stops & Seasonal Potomac River Cruise
Great tour. We were disappointed we didn't stop at the World War II Memorial, and we couldn't go into the Washington Memorial, but that aside, it was a fun day. We were picked up at the hotel and taken back. We had a nice stop for lunch with plenty of options. Our driver and guide were excellent. Unfortunately, I don't recall their names.

Washington DC Sightseeing Tour with Photo Stops & Seasonal Potomac River Cruise
As a disabled person I was nervous about how I would fare on this six hour tour. But there is nothing to fear, because the tour guide and the driver were absolutely amazing and accommodating to all of my needs. They made this tour for me and my daughter one of the best days of my life, and I am truly grateful. I highly recommend!

When to Get There

While the Potomac River is free to enjoy throughout the year, the views are arguably at their best during the spring cherry blossom season and in autumn when colorful leaves create a picturesque frame for the monuments on the shore. Expect high temperatures and high humidity from June to August.
