Old Faithful Geyser

Center Loop Road, Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming

The Basics

Most tours of Yellowstone National Park stop by Old Faithful to see one of the geyser’s spectacular eruptions. Day trips to Yellowstone can last up to 13 hours and typically leave from Jackson or Jackson Hole, and visit Old Faithful along with park highlights such as Hayden Valley, Yellowstone Lake, and the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone. Small-group tours offer a personalized experience, while self-guided tours are also available if you want to explore the park at your own pace.

The Best!
Andrew, our tour guide, was fantastic! Extremely knowledgeable, friendly, helpful, you-name-it. He was the best. I would do this tour again at the drop of a hat, especially if Andrew is the guide. Fantastic scenery, wildlife, etc.

Great park and guide crappy van

Yellowstone Old Faithful, Waterfalls and Wildlife Day Tour
Kim was great. Very nice and knowledgeable. Our trip was really good with tons of elk, bison etc … the Van kinda sucked. Even with the air on high it was borderline uncomfortable. Then the van door jammed open. Managed to get it shut but couldn’t use it the rest of the trip. They say they have new vans on order but can’t get them due to covid. Overall a nice trip

Yellowstone Old Faithful, Waterfalls and Wildlife Day Tour
If you’re going to Yellowstone for the first time, definitely take a tour like this. The park is huge but our guide knew how to get us to all the best spots and helped spot wildlife we might’ve missed. Our guide Jeff was super friendly and knowledgeable. The tour was very well organized and made for a great day.

Yellowstone Old Faithful, Waterfalls and Wildlife Day Tour
I was hoping to see a grizzly bear and i did see one. a mother and her cub. Cade also took us to see bison and elk. We also saw a moose up close walking right in front of us. I never thought we would be so up close. It was a thrill of a life time and so glad we had him. to show us around

Yellowstone Old Faithful, Waterfalls and Wildlife Day Tour
Our guide Andrew from BrushBuck tours made the trip come alive with interesting trivia, anecdotes and stories. The guides/naturalists have a good network and find animal sightings quickly and efficiently. Andrew’s network helped us spot grizzly activity and other wildlife around the park. We travelled with kids and Andrew had an interesting story for all ages :) we loved the tour and highly recommend the knowledgeable folks at BrushBuck .

When to Get There

You can visit Old Faithful from May to October, although summer is the most popular time. To beat the crowds, consider visiting in the early morning or in the moments just before dusk. If the eruption schedule aligns with sunrise, be sure to set an alarm so you can watch Old Faithful spout water at dawn.

Yellowstone’s Hot Springs and Geysers

There are more geysers in Yellowstone than any other place in the world. To visit the park’s geysers, enter through the West Entrance and continue to Madison, the jumping-off point for geyser basins to the north and south. The Lower Geyser Basin, which includes Fountain Paint Pot, and the Upper Geyser Basin, home to Old Faithful, are both to the south. The Mammoth Hot Springs and Steamboat geysers are in the Norris Geyser Basin to the north.
