Private Day Tour to Abu Simbel Temples from Aswan

My tour guide (Walid) and driver (Islam) arrived to pick me up from my hotel and from then on out, it was easy sailing! We stopped once to use the bathroom and then we were back on the Aswan-Abu Simbel Rd! It was one of the most tranquil things I’ve ever experienced…just miles and miles of passing desert! Walid is informative and kind. On the way back, I fell asleep and woke up to a mirage in the desert at 106°! I was allowed to take pictures and we promptly got back in the car! I will say that I was solo traveling so, it was just me and I move fairly quickly. We had time after leaving the temples so I asked to make a stop which we did since we had time before lunch. Walid and Islam were VERY accommodating. Nothing went wrong, everything was smooth. FYI- you will have to give your hotel info and passport pic the day before so that you’re allowed in. All in all, AMAZING TIME! I HIGHLY recommend! 5 stars!!

The tour guide: 1. asked for a copy of my passport via email the night before the trip; 2 was eager to sell more trips during the trip; 3. only did a short speech outside the temple along with photos and then sit outside waiting for us.

We opted for the earliest start time, which ended up being a wise decision - not only to reach Abu Simbel before the temperature rocketed, but also to beat the crowds! Emad (our guide) and our driver picked us up at 4:30am, and we headed out into the desert to Abu Simbel for the 3 hour drive. Our hotel had given us a packed breakfast, but we were supplied with water by the tour guide. He also brought along an umbrella to use as a parasol if we needed to. Emad advised us that it would be best for him to cover the majority of the history of the temples in the car on the way, so that we could make a bee-line for the temple when we reached the site. There was wisdom in this, as we reached the temple about 20 minutes ahead of a convoy of tour buses, and were able to look around the temple with practically no other tourists around. If we had waited to have him cover the information until we reached the temple, it would have been both busier and hotter by the time we got inside. On the way back, Emad offered us a range of stop-offs for various popular souvenirs: spices, essences, cotton, etc. He wasn't pushy, and we got the sense that if we hadn't wanted to go, he would have happily taken us back to our hotel. Overall, a fab trip, definitely worth doing - as the history of the site (both ancient and modern) was fascinating. Would definitely recommend!

Samir was absolutely wonderful as a guide and traveling companion on our day tour to Abu Simbel from Aswan. He was genuinely sincere, incredibly knowledgeable and repeatedly went above and beyond to ensure we had a great trip. He also has a map that he uses for his tours that clearly outlines everything you can expect to see in these temples… this was an ingenious way of preparing us for our visit to the temples (especially since tour guides are not allowed inside once you get there)! He made great use of the time we had in the car (it’s a 3 hour drive from Aswan) to share a wealth of information and history - and we loved every minute of it! My wife and I have traveled extensively around the world and can honestly say that Samir is one of the best tour guides we have had. Thank you, Samir and thank you EMO Tours Egypt!

I think that Abu Simbel is able to be 1 of 7 wonders of the world. Is really amazing place, but the travel is boring, amost 6 hours in a car and 1 hour to visit

I took this trip with a friend. It was an enjoyable experience. Emad is very knowledgeable and helpful.

We are 3 people and it was completely private tour:) Mohammed(Hope spelling correct) speaks Japanese and he is very nice, calm and kind guide compared to others who we met in other tours in Egypt. We depart from our hotel 5am but we can relax on the bus. Everywhere in Egypt needs tipping. But even though we are not really familiar with it and sometimes forgot to give tips, the guide always takes care of that without stress to us! このツアーでお世話になったモハメドさんは、とっても穏やかで優しくて日本人にとってはとても行動しやすい方でした。たまにたどたどしい日本語なのも微笑ましいです。何より、チップの相場感がない日本人は期待外れな金額を行く先々で渡してしまったりするのですが、ゲストである我々の目につかないところでさりげなく追加の金額を渡していたり、とても優し書きづかいできる方でした。 実はこのツアーはお昼過ぎには終わったので、急遽川を渡って行くヌビア村のツアーも組んでもらいました。 帰りはお兄さんの車で安く送迎までしてもらい、本当に親切でありがたかったです。相談すればいろんな希望を叶えてくれるガイドさんでした。
