Return Details

Plaça de Catalunya, 08002 Barcelona, Spain

Depending on the size of the group and the traffic restrictions on the day of the tour, your tour will finish back at the office, or in Placa Catalunya, which is an easy 3-5 minute walk from the office.

Leave central Barcelona by air-conditioned minivan and set off on your day trip. As you travel, listen as your guide shares tales of Salvador Dalí’s life, and gaze out over the passing countryside and villages.

After a while, arrive in Figueres, Dalí’s birthplace and home to his famous Dalí Theatre-Museum. See the house where Dalí was born in 1904, and then continue to the museum. Home to a vast range of Dalí’s creations, it offers a unique insight into his works and artistic vision.

Marvel at the exterior with its giant, rooftop egg sculptures, and use your included ticket to skip any admission lines and head straight inside. Enjoy time to explore at leisure, and view everything from Dalí’s early experiments with cubism to later surrealist works such as the Galatea of the Spheres, and the famed Mae West Room installation.

Having explored here, reconvene with your guide and continue your tour as shown below depending on the time of year. For more details, see the Itinerary section.

Winter: Cadaqués and Port Lligat (September 1 - June 30):
Depart Figueres and make the scenic drive to Cadaqués. Admire this pretty seaside Costa Brava village, and get free time for lunch (own expense) at a local restaurant. Next, travel to Port Lligat, a coastal village where Dalí built a private retreat, now converted into a museum. Head inside (own expense) to explore, and after a panoramic drive around the spectacular Cap de Creus, finish your tour in central Barcelona.

Summer: Pubol Castle and Platja del Castell (July 1 – August 31):
Leave Figueres for Pubol Castle, once a home of Dalí and his wife Gala, located in the village of the same name. Visit the Gala Dalí House-Museum in the castle, and after lunch (own expense), venture to the attractive seafront town of Platja del Castell. Admire the castle-like house of muralist Josep Maria Sert, a friend of Dalí, where Dalí visited during the 1930s, and then return to Barcelona, where your trip ends.

Venture to one of the many beautiful beach side towns that dot the Costa Brava coastline. Please remember to bring suitable clothing if you want to enjoy a refreshing dip in the sea or relax on the beach.

Please note: The Salvador Dalí House in Port Lligat is closed between January 1 and January 4, and January 11 to February 11. On these dates, guests will see only the exterior of the house.

10.00am - You will arrive at the world famous Dalí Museum-Theatre in Figueres, the birthplace of Dalí, where you will be taken straight past the queues inside. Step inside the surreal world of Salvador Dalí and find a museum like none other. Dalí wanted visitors to see his massive collection as a ‘whole’ work, and for this reason he wanted no catalogues and refused to have his works placed in chronological or subject order. Inside is a world of fantasy mixed with architecture mixed with paintings and sculptures. It’s a complete surrealistic experience.

A must

It was such a delight to have a Arnau as a tour guide. He’s very knowledgeable and very professional. The Dali museum was a revelation of the person. The quirkiness and genius that is Dali. I am very glad that I was able to experience it. It would make you rethink about certain things. Cadaques was a nice seaside break. Dali’s house was another interesting revelation of the man. Go see it whenever you get a chance.

An Excellent Day exploring Dali!

Rod was a terrific tour guide! We had a wonderful time exploring Figueres, Pubol, and a beautiful beach outside of Barcelona. There was a nice balance of time to explore and guided tour time. I highly recommend this experience for any Dali fan.
Loved the Salvador Dali Tour!
, Jul 2021
I took the full day tour from Barcelona to the Dali Museum in Figueres (with a bit of time to explore the town on our own) and the Gala Dali Castle in Pubol. We ended the day with a brief trip to the beach. I absolutely loved this tour. Our guide, Rodrigo, was very knowledgeable, as well as being a very entertaining guide -- he brought far more to the tour than I could have experienced on my own. The small group (five people plus Rodrigo) was the perfect size. I was delighted finally to see the Dali Museum, as I had heard about it for years but had never had the opportunity to visit. However, I believe that my favorite part of the tour was the Gala Dali Castle, as I really didn't know anything about it prior to the tour, and it was such a delightful surprise. It was a beautiful medieval castle and a beautiful setting, with enough quirky Dali touches to make it a wonderful 20th century home for Salvador and Gala. I look forward to returning to Barcelona and taking more tours of a similar sort.
Into the life of Dali
, Jul 2021
I love that this is a small format tour where you get to know more about your fellow traveler as well as our guide Rod. He painted the life of Dali expertly and alsoprovided interesting historical facts about Spain/Catalonia as we drove to the various attractions. The Dali museum is the main attraction of the tour and I throughly enjoyed it. Gala’s castle give us insight to Dali love for his muse. I was mildly interested in Dali and is now fascinated by him. Overall a great tour!

Surreal Experience of the immortal Dali.
, Mar 2020
We had a most amazing day visiting the Dali museum Figueres and his home in Port Lligat. Our small group was a perfect size. Arnau, our tour guide, was incredibly knowledgeable and gave us the summary of Dalis life on the 2 hour drive to Figueres then walked us inside the museum and laid out the best way to experience it. The museum itself was a magical insight into the mad genius himself and included the jewel collection as well. Next up lunch in lovely Cadaqués topped by the optional tour of Dalis home- don’t miss it! On the ride gone we asked Arnau about all things Catalunya and he gave us a greater understanding of the culture and perspective of the entire region. Truly special. Be prepared to spend the whole day. Don’t miss this if you love art and culture.
