Half a day in Saint-Emilion on a private tour (Luxury Minivan)

We were picked up at our hotel nicely on time by our friendly driver in a luxurious car. During the ride from Bordeaux to Saint-Emilion he passionately told us a lot of interesting facts and stories about the wines, the region and its history. After a walking tour in the gorgeous town of Saint-Emilion, we visited the chateau of Villemaurine. Our very friendly guide there showed us everything from the vineyards to the bottling proces. Seeing the old underground tunnels where the vine roots penetrate the stone ceiling, was a great experience. And, of course, we ended up tasting the fantastic Grands Crus. Our last stop before our ride back was the small chateau Le Chatelet. There, we got to taste the different wines while receiving an explanation from a wonderfully passionate man. When we arrived back at the hotel, we were welcomed with some last treats: Canelés de Bordeaux. A wonderful experience!

This tour was informative and fun! We learned so much in such a short amount of time, and it was such a good time. I highly recommend you book it if you want the real look from an insider's view of this area and the local wine.

We scheduled a 1/2 day afternoon tour of Saint-Emilion via Viator. We had some pre tour questions and the response we received from the actual tour company was immediate and helpful. Hugo greeted us with a comfortable vehicle. He was passionate about France, the wine region he was showing us and eager to impart his knowledge. His selection of the 2 chateaus we visited were fabulous and we ended up spending more time at each than I think was planned. The chateau tour guides were wonderful, too. We leaned a lot, we bought the wine and simply enjoyed a memorable experience! Highly recommend and ask for Hugo!
