This activity will end right where it started.
Your day on the Great Barrier Reef, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, begins as you depart Cairns by high-speed catamaran, listening to commentary from a marine naturalist about the array of marine life that call the reef home (safety and snorkeling instructions are also provided). Arrive at a spacious pontoon moored on the outer reef, your base for the day, where you can spend your time however you wish to make the most of your experience on the water.

The pontoon is equipped with Wi-Fi, change rooms, and showers. A buffet lunch is provided for beverages, you may purchase soft drinks and alcoholic drinks from the onboard bar, as well as additional snacks or ice cream. For protection from the elements, Lycra sun suits are included or you can hire neoprene wetsuits (additional cost); the Great Barrier Reef is home to jellyfish and other stinging species (jellyfish season is November to May).

After ample time on the pontoon, your day trip ends with the return cruise to Cairns.

Included activities

If you prefer to stay dry, take a glass-bottom boat ride or tour by semi-submersible vessel to spot clownfish, starfish, clams, anemone coral and more. Watch a fish-feeding demonstration, and check out the onboard touch tank for a hands-on look at marine life. When you want to cool off, jump in the water with your provided snorkeling equipment to look for resident sea creatures like Dolla the turtle or Wally the hump-headed Maori wrasse. Watch for manta rays, clownfish and maybe even whales in the winter months.

Optional upgrades

Seawalker Helmet diving: Take a walk on an underwater platform to enjoy the thrill of scuba diving without the scuba requirements. No diving experience is necessary to participate in this guided activity, and numbers are limited to six people per group to provide personalized attention.

Great experience for the whole family

Absolutely amazing. We did the guided snorkel too and thoroughly enjoyed it. Relaxed and exiting at the same time.
What an experience

What a fantastic day. Great set up. You can snorkel scuba dive sea walk, go on a glass bottom boat or a semi submersible. They cater for everyone. Four hours on the reef plenty of time. Loved it.

Beautiful experience, staff amazing, service outstanding, safe procedures, entertaining for singles, families, couples & friends, so much to do and learn when out at the reef, even if you don’t snorkel. 💕
Would do it again in a heartbeat

Great day out and wonderful to experience the GBR. Would have been 5 star except there was too many people on the tour and it felt over crowded. Staff were friendly and efficient.
Dream trip
, Jul 2022
It was a one of a kind experience. My husband didn’t want to enter the water and I wanted to snorkel and there were activities for both of us. The semi submersible and glass bottom boats were a great option for anyone who wanted to stay dry. Snorkeling and water slide provided fun for those in the water. The reef and the marine life were stunning. Do take the seasickness medicine; it works like magic. Highly recommended!
Trip to Moore Reef
, Jul 2022
Trip out to reef was slightly rough however staff were excellent. Time at reef snorkelling was an experience with the abundance of fish. The coral part was also amazing viewing both from glass bottom boat and submersible. Overall a great day
Memorable underwater walk
, Jul 2022
Most memorable experience was doing the underwater walk, wearing a wet suit & breathing apparatus. Fantastic & enjoyable adventure.
The Reef is Worth Seeing
, Jul 2022
I loved seeing the reef in the glass bortom boat. (The semi-submersible was not available due to high winds.) There were so many kinds of coral! A beautiful array of pattern and texture. Our boat driver shared interesting facts about what we were seeing. We saw a giant clam, too. Very cool!

Ok- sure there are better tours
, Jul 2022
First off I want to say that the staff on board were amazing - so friendly and attentive to peoples needs The day we went it was really Rough sea and pops viability- so we should of had the opportunity to cancel with a refund - however that wasn’t an options I thinks it’s a lot of money for what it is- boat ride to a pontoon - ship was over crowded - and everything was all about how to Make an extra doller I’m sure there are better tours- i should of looked
Outer reef snorkelling
, Jul 2022
Large group outer reef tours are all very similar. Take a large boat full of people to battle it out for sick bags on the 2hr journey out to the reef, do a stop over at Green or Fitzroy Islands, arrive, then get marshalled into semi subs to view the reef, or battle the lines for the very average buffet lunches. Staff are very dry and unapproachable, do this, dont do that, you will or will not need stinger suits and want to upsell everything! Highlights are the sub, viewing platform on the potoon and of course the snorkelling. Wouldnt bother with the diving (snorkelling is included and you get the same view without carrying a bulky tank and getting into useless gear), the seawalkers are also a gimmick (stuck to a tiny platform!). Reef is magic - enjoyed the glass bottom boat tour as the American guide was highly knowledgable and gave excellent reef commentary (was the highlights for the kids). The submersible trip wasnt as good as the tour on another provider but the snorkelling area made up for it as did the glass bottom boat that took you to better spots.
A great, first time experience.
, Jul 2022
Without a doubt the snorkeling was a huge highlight for me. The weather was superb and the trip out and back was smooth sailing. Great food to boot. Had a blast.

The most memorable moments were watching the fish being fed and the glass bottomed boat trip. We were very impressed by the conscientiousness and friendliness of the crew.
