Return Details

Returns to original departure point
One of Australia’s protected Marine National Parks, the low-lying coral cay of Green Island is situated 15 miles (27 kilometers) off the coast of Cairns and provides an excellent base for exploring the Great Barrier Reef. Choose from two different morning departure times to suit your sightseeing schedule, and climb aboard a luxurious air-conditioned catamaran for the cruise to the island.

Once you step ashore, choose from a wide variety of activities to design your perfect day (additional expenses may apply). Snorkel straight from the beach to swim among tropical fish and coral gardens, embark on a scuba diving tour or try the unique Seawalking experience, where a helmet allows you to breathe underwater while surrounded by swimming marine life. If you prefer not to get wet, you can still get a great view of the giant clams, sea turtles, and tropical fish below the surface with a tour on a glass-bottom boat or upgrade to ride on a semi-submarine.

If you choose the lunch option at booking, enjoy a delicious buffet meal aboard the catamaran midday. (See Itinerary below for a sample lunch menu.) Grab a drink at any time from the fully licensed onboard bar (own expense).

At Green Island Resort, feel free to use the facilities including showers, restrooms and changing rooms to stay comfortable throughout the day. You can also hire beach chairs, umbrellas, canoes, sailboards and surf skis from the resort and take advantage of several walking tracks to explore the island’s tropical rain forest landscape.

After your time soaking up the island paradise, relax on the return catamaran cruise to Cairns.

Perfect Day Out

Great day out. Plenty of time on the island and in the water. Saw turtles, rays and plenty of fish. Would recommend snorkling near the pier to see more marine life.

Green Island, great day!!

Our day on Green Island was great. We were fortunate to swim with Sea Turtles, had a great snorkelling safari further out on the reef with a Marine Biologist and other snorkelling activities. We were not fortunate with the weather but that did not dampen day and the crew were just great.

Muxups extraordinaire

Victoria messed up my booking and had wrong departure times. Very very careless and as the tour was booked up at the time I booked, they really should have let me know I was supposed to leave 2 hours earlier. It nearly messed up my whole holiday. Poorly done Victor. I won't be booking any more tours with Victor. I already let my friends know.

The submarine experience was great, as well as the glass bottom boat. Better snorkeling experiences elsewhere but the water was clear and wonderful for a swim

A must do experience whilst in Cairns

Had an amazing time with my family over at Green Island. Having 3 children aging from 3 to 10 there was plenty for all of them to do. The snorkel safari and crocodile Park are a must see.

I rate this tour a really pleasant way to spend a day away from Cairns in the peace and tranquility of the island.

The whole ferry trip was brilliantly organized from hotel pick up....to check in...to disembarking on the island and the home run back to Cairns. Tourists have the choice of snorkeling or viewing the reef from the glass bottom boat. For an extra fee, the visitor can choose the Semi Submarine for viewing the ocean floor and fish species . We were fortunate enough to see a reef shark and a very large sea turtle and many other fish species teeming below, especially the Giant Trevally and Sergeant Fish ( Collingwood Fish). The island has very pleasant shaded rain forest walks, beaches, cafes and bars and is not overdeveloped. You can easily walk around the island circumference in 30 minutes covering around 800 metres. Be sure to take your swimwear because if you are not snorkeling there are plenty of pristine places for swimming.

Arriving with a high tide after 1 pm was great timing and made snorkelling more amazing. The Semi-sub tour was a truly unforgettable experience for the family. Green is great!
