Cozumel & Playa del Carmen Day Trip from Cancun

Let me start by saying this was the absolute worst excursion I have ever seen. I vacation regularly and explore excursions and this by far was the worst. Here is how it started. My fiancé and I get picked up at 7 am from our hotel. We were first to be picked up. After making 3 additional stops and cramming a ton of people in the shuttle with no seats available then kids with purchased seats now had to sit on laps. I’m 6’2” and my legs were completely crammed. We didn’t arrive to the ferry until 10 am. It took 3 hours. To get to the ferry ugh. Now we had to wait 1 hour for the 11 am ferry. We took the 45 minute ferry ride which was a nice ride. This is were it gets bad. We get off the ferry meet with our group and they state we can use sunblock for snorkeling as it’s a protected habitat. Are you kidding me. I’m Irish with extremely fair and sensitive skin. If I’m in the sun for 5 minutes without sunblock I’m burnt. Imagine 3 hours in the ocean. If I did this I would literally get sun poisoning and would be in the hospital and my vacation would be over. I did ask if where we were going if there was a beach. I would be fine with that since I could wear sunblock and they said no. Well guess what my only option was not to go. So now we are stuck in Cozumel as I’m not staying all day to wait for the group. We did walk around a bit checked the island out. We then took the ferry back and now I had to pay for a 90 minute taxi ride back to my resort. Also unlimited drinks water soda beer isn’t unlimited. On the shuttle ride there they said you get 1 small beer. Yeah and why did I pay extra for this? False advertisement. Having a beach day again false advertisement. Not in one place does it state no sunblock. If that was stated I would have passed on and looked at another excursion. I then reach out because I shouldnt have to pay for this entire excursion since I was unable to attend due to their lack and or misleading information. Go figure no response.

The itinerary states you are in Cozumel for 5 hours and then shopping for 50 minutes, leaving at 7:30am. That would put us back to our resort at 5 or 6pm. The included "lunch" was not given to us until 4:45, after a full day of snorkeling and being in the sun... so don't skip breakfast! As we were eating they let us know that the guide would not be taking us back to the ferry until 9pm! So we were stuck for 4 hours in a shopping plaza by ourselves. Being constantly barraged by street peddlers and their children. This would have put us back to our resort at approximately midnight. What should have been a 9 hour day (6 hours of a tour, plus 3 hours of travel) turned in to a 15.5 hour day. Which is nuts. The ONLY good thing about this tour was Miguel. He was our guide while we were out snorkeling. He was funny, knowledgeable and just all around amazing! It is too bad everything else was just sh!t.

I thought we were getting an hour at Playa del Carmen, we did not. The amount my pd for 2 ppl was close to $300 USD, it was not worth that amount, didn’t include ferry. The boat we took out to the reef & cielo fit 11 ppl. So, what exactly is the $150 PP include then? The diving gear was a simple belly board. Nice, but wasn’t a life jacket. Not worth the money.

They crew was FABULOUS! 3 different snorkeling areas explored.... all great sites with something different in each.

Insgesamt war ich etwas enttäuscht. Die Insel und das Schnorcheln waren sehr gut, aber man hatte das Gefühl das man auf der Flucht ist. War alles sehr auf Massentourismus ausgelegt.
