One of the best tours in Mexico

Great experience and very professional tour guides with much valuable information about Maya history. Personally, I didn’t like our lunch restaurant, it wasn’t that clean and they were insisting that we don’t bring our drinks and we must buy it from them which wasn’t ok for me! I mean why would i leave my bottle of water in the bus to buy another one from the restaurant!! The tour is about 12-13 hours long with several stops so be prepared for a full day activities

Historical must see / but with Rex ONLY!!!
Mike_O
, Jan 2022
It is the guide that does the experience. Rex - our guide - is a passionate and extremely knowledgable not only about the monuments but the culture and history of Mayans. He spreads positive energy about the Mayan world every minute of the ways. Lunch was nothing spectacular - below average, especially when assessed along with the shop that leads you to the dining area in a way that forces you to purchase souvenirs that you do not even need. Tips approach - begging for it - is not comforting at all. The site itself - Chichen Itza and cenote - really spectacular. Transportation and timing also very good, but it would be adviasble to provide a timetable of the trip when ordering or event when at the beginning of the purchase of this trip. The trip is not good for under 13 years of age.

The tour was good, Carlos is really experienced and nice guide! We had luck with the weather and it was not that hot. The cenotes was a bit over crowded. I could recommend this tour.

Really excellent tour. Good amount of time at each site apart from the little town but that can’t be helped as all tours are only allowed to spend about 20 mins there. Me and my partner had a great time!

Really good tour

We really enjoyed this tour! Chitchen Itza was amazing and the guide was very knowledgeable and friendly. We had 2 hours in Chitchen Itza which was a good amount of time to see the main sites. The cenote was beautiful and so refreshing! Valladolid was a pretty stop off too, it would have been nice to have more time there. We found the mayan village too commercial which is why this is only 4 stars. Would recommend this tour.

Great trip for Chechen Itza, Cenote is underwhelming, time at Valladolid could have been longer.
Danian_Z
, Dec 2021
Our guide Tony and Carlos are great. The driver Victor is friendly and helpful too. Love the crew. Main complaints are more about the timing of the year and the crowd at the places then the service provided. The pickup is right on time. Like the way they track you down with WhatsApp lol. The ride was comfortable and the stops are well placed. The stop at the Mayan village feels a bit pushy but not too bad. The lunch is delicious. The Chenchen Itza place is awesome for its own right. The history and archeological value are worthy of the trip alone, the main issue is the crowd and lines when getting in and the 2 hr time on site is not really enough for fully appreciate the site yet. Tony recommended a very good route after great history lessons. Only problem is the 1 hr free time left is not enough to go through it if you want to do a lot of photos at the same time. The Cenote is way too crowded for taking a dip. People spends long time waiting on the stairs in crowded condition. We ended up not getting in the water and took a nice walk on the bike trail. The trail is very nice with little tropical gardens. We enjoyed it better. Again it is not tour’s problem: just timing. The stop at Valladolid is beautiful but sadly too short. The sunset over the church is Magical. The street vendor’s Cheerios and seasoned chips are delicious. Just remember to get in line right away after you get off the bus because the line will build up really quickly with a lot of bus dumping tourist there. The stop is only 30mins but I feel we could easily spend an hr and half and have dinner there. The drive back is peaceful and comfortable. We got back to hotel zone a bit after 8:30-8:40? As I recall. Earlier than I expected. Thanks to our driver Victor. The drop off is quick and professional. We left a decent tip as internet recommended between 10-20% - fir the crew’s good service and friendly handling of the stress with the crowded situation. I did notice the top jar was not as well populated as I would expect. Overall I feel the tour served it’s purpose well. Which is a good initial Chenchen Itza exposure with some add’l value. If I do it again I might choose to take a private tour earlier in the morning but it will be 3x more expensive. I treat The added time to go though the sales pitches at Mayan village as part of the sacrifice to keep the tour price low. And the lunch is pretty tasty. If you look at the economics, we got the US$89/ person tour. The Chenchen Itza admission alone is $27, considering entrance fee for cenote, cost of lunch and gas and parking, even with some kind of discount on admission the margin might still be thin. So the Mayan village sales pitch might be naturally a necessary revenue opportunity for the company and tour guides. I understand other people might be annoyed a bit. But I guess it is always a trade off. Anyway kudos to our crew To y, Carlos and Victor again and have a fun time in Cancun.

Dear Danian, Thank you for such an amazing and detailed review! We are glad you enjoyed our shared tour to Chichen-Itza, cenote and Valladolid. We will definitely take all the cons you mentioned into the consideration in order to improve the quality of our service. As you said, unfortunately, there is very little we can do about the crowds in the spots, especially in a high season. Once again, thank you for traveling with OlMar Travel Mexico. Hope to see you on our tours again soon. Best regards, Mariia Kireeva OlMar Travel Mexico Team

Great guides, comfortable bus, learned much about mayan culture. Negative is Way too long on bus. 14 hours. They could take some things out. One of the shopping stops....

Dear Jeffrey_K, First of all, thank you for traveling with OlMar Travel Mexico. We will definitely take your review into a consideration in order to improve our products quality. However, there are some things we can do very little about. The distances here are very long. Only a drive to Chichen-Itza from Cancun may take you up to 3 hours, one way. Our guides make their best efforts in order to make travelers time in the vehicle pleasant and calm. Please don´t hesite to contact us, if you have more comments on the tour o have any questions. Best regards,  Mariia Kireeva  OlMar Travel Mexico
