Meet your guide in downtown Charlotte for a thorough overview of how to operate the Segway. Once your group is comfortable with the Segway controls, you'll make your way through the lively Uptown district. There are plenty of opportunities for photos on this informative tour -- best to pull out that camera only when your Segway has come to rest!

Option 1: 1.5-hour Segway tour

Start your tour by making your way to the Levine Avenue of the Arts to stop at the Bechtler Museum, a relatively new attraction in Charlotte that showcases the Bechtler family’s impressive collection of modern art. Admire the imposing 17-foot (5-meter) outdoor sculpture “The Firebird," covered in shimmering mosaic tiles.

On the other side of this avenue is the Mint Museum, the oldest art museum in Charlotte, and the Gantt Center for African-American Arts and Culture, home to exhibitions and performances. Glide into The Green, an urban park lined with sculptures that celebrate great literature. Then make your way over to the center of Charlotte at Trade and Tryon streets. Your tour ends with a visit to the Fourth Ward, a pretty area known for its historic Victorian homes.

Option 2: 2-hour Segway tour

If you'd like to cover a bit more ground by Segway, opt for a longer tour where you'll hit all of the sights above, as well as the Old Settlers’ Cemetery dating back to 1776. Your guide will share the names of some of the prominent citizens who have been laid to rest at this historic burial site, as well as at your next stop, the Elmwood/Pinewood Cemetery. Return to modern times with a visit to the Carolina Panthers' football stadium.

Fantastic Charlotte Uptown Tour!! Highly Recommend!

Our tour guide Paul was wonderful!! We got a great historical tour of Uptown. Paul, our tour guide had designated locations that were great for pictures both on and off the Segway. The history of the sites and overview of the wards in uptown was very informative and descriptive. I enjoyed stopping at the sites to get a descriptive history of each location and the various parks. I highly recommend the tour to anyone new to the uptown Charlotte area or residents of Charlotte that would like an informative tour and history of the area.

We are new residents and wanted to learn more about Charlotte. Our Segway tour was the perfect vehicle. James was a great guide, and he took us throughout the four wards explaining the significance of each. It was very helpful.

Never rode a Segway before. After training it went great. We were pros by the end. Paul our guide, was very interesting and made sure to stop and check on us as well as to speak regularly. I have not visited Charlotte before. Very impressed by the 4 ward houses and parks. The feel of Charlotte was similar to Vancouver. Very arty and up and coming with the major banks being head quartered there. Really fun event. We went to Merks for soul food after which was very close
