Tour to the Benagil Cave from Faro or Tavira

Sebastien was a fantastic guide. He was very safety-conscious and took the time to have us stretch and taught us how to utilize our fins and body boards in the safest way possible. It was a gorgeous day, the water was beautiful, and the cave was so neat. We then went on a hike to some truly incredible views, followed by some free time, where we got some lunch and chilled on the beach for a little while. It was about 6 hours from pickup to dropoff, which was a perfect amount of time.

I am a young French girl traveling alone and this was the best day of my trip. Sebastiao is kind, caring, and wants everything to be done in a good mood. Arrived at the starting point, he announced us cash that we could not enter in the caves (waves too strong) he made a point of refunding those who did not wish to come. I took the decision to make the excursion anyway and it was the best decision of my life. We discovered the caves from the top and walked to other places that were just as beautiful. The sun was present. Around 1pm it was again possible to go into the cave by bodyboard. Sebastiao asked us if we still wanted to go. OF COURSE. The interior of the cave of Benagil is incredible, it is so beautiful, Sebastiao explains well the rules for the crossing to the swim, and not being a big swimmer I felt safe. We have time to take pictures in the cave and we can enjoy the view. After that, Sebastiao took us to the last place, and we could do our free time. The day was complete and I have no regrets. I came alone, I made friends and I also met a great guide, who opened my eyes more to the beauty of the world. My friends and I had a great time on this tour. We were promptly picked up by Sebastian our guide for the tour. We then drove to our destination and he gave us specific instructions on how to bodyboard. I had 2 friends who don’t know how to swim but he still encouraged them to bodyboard to benagil caves and swam them the whole way there. Gave us great tips on where to take photos. Then we went on the hike. It was absolutely beautiful!! Rest of day was spent with some free time on Marinha beach. The best part of this was Sebastian our tour guide and would do this again if I could! I would recommend bring water and pack your lunch to enjoy on the beach.

We had an amazing time ! Even though conditions weren’t good to go into the cave by bodyboard, Sebastiao took us to see it from above. We really enjoyed the hike in the beautiful Seven Valleys!

Sebastian was great. We enjoyed the tour and different spots he showed us. Helpful throughout the tour, well worth the price. It includes your gear to swim to the cave, great experience.

Honestly this was our best day of our trip to the Algarve. My boyfriend and I were really looking forward to seeing the 16m year old caves but wanted to go on a tour with a small group so luckily I found this one. My partner was a little nervous as he’s not very confident in the sea (there is a short swim around the cove to access the cave) but Sebastian, our guide, was really good and helped with his confidence (turns out he’s ex-SAS so we’re good 😊). As soon as he picked us up he was so friendly, and gave us some great advice about where to go in Tavira (that’s where we we’re staying) once we got to the beach and parked up he gave us a short de-brief on safety in the sea and gave us our body boards, life jackets, fins and wetsuits - which were freshly washed and very clean, unlike other tours I have been on. We then made our way down onto the beach for our short swim around the cove and into the cave. The cave was insanely beautiful as expected where Sebastian helped us to take amazing photos for memories and the gram. We then had a lovely walk along the cliffs followed by 90 mins of chill-time to sunbathe on the beautiful beach nearby, grab some snacks and freshly squeezed orange juice or fruit from the food trucks. We were then dropped back to our meeting point safely. I would strongly recommend this trip to anyone looking to explore the Benagil caves and would rather experience a good swim instead of a tourist trap boat. Thanks for a great day Sebastian!

The most memorable part is the boogie boarding, Cave seeing and the Algarve coast that Sebastião(the tour guide) showed us. Sebastião Is a very adventures and passionated guide who will always put the customer first no matter the age.
