Guided Walking Tour of Florence with Uffizi Gallery

We booked this tour through Viator, and out guide was through City Wonders. We thoroughly enjoyed our guide. She was very knowledgeable, accommodating and friendly. We wanted for a very long time just to get the tour started. Things appeared to be very disorganized. We stood around for over 30 minutes while the three tour guides tried to figure something out. We were repeatedly asked who we were and what tour we were scheduled for. As a result, of getting started much later than scheduled, we had to leave the tour before it was completed. This was the second time that our tour was cut short because of apparent disorganization of the tour guides.

I took this tour so that my kids 12 and 14 could get a short and sweet education on Florence history with a knowledgeable guide. I expected this tour to last about 3-4 hours, tops. Our group started off well, as there were only 5 of us, I thought we would get some good information. What we got was information all right. Droning on and on. We couldn't hear well because of the crowds while walking and our guides' focus was on the other couple with us, so it was often hard to pay attention to what he was saying. We did get info on the Duomo and Baptistry, but nothing on the front of the church except the kind of marble it was made of. I really wish I could say I liked this, but the guide was just so uninteresting that I feel like I could have gotten a guide book and read this to my kids with as much success. We saw a few interesting sights on our path to Palazzo Vecchio, but not really in a way that made any of it come to life for myself or my kids. We had a break because the walking and Uffizi tour are actually two different tours, so when we finally made it into the Uffizi, it was already 2.5 hours into being with this guide. Our walk through the Uffizi was pretty much the same. We spent forever in the medieval sections of the museum, with him going on and on while other groups passed us by. It took 2 hours to get through the Uffizi and not seeing nearly any of the more recent renaissance collection, at which point it had closed and we could not go back and look at other art that we were more interested in. While I did get information about some of the art, I was really disappointed in the delivery by the guide. It seemed like he would just get started talking about a picture and we had to learn every. single. thing. about this picture and artist. Sometimes brevity is golden. This was the only chance we had to go to the Uffizi because OMG the crowds are impossible. My kids hated this day, and I can't blame them. It was 5 hours wasted for them.

Well done, just enough information. Not boring, the guide was informative.

Although were over 40C the guided tour was exiting and very nice. She managed to guide us around Florence just picking up the most relevant sites leaving us the opportunity to explore the rest according to our budget and time. Not to many unnecessary details, not to much history but sufficient information to make us curious to comeback and spend more time in this beautiful city. The walking tour includes also some sites or information which you hardly find in any touristic books but which gives a special flavor to the sightseeing tour. Following Uffizi Gallery tour was more tiring than the walking tour through the city because the Galleries were pretty crowded and indeed too much information in 2 and half hours was pretty hard to digest. Still I recommend to add to your day visit some information which you can find very easy on You tube. This will give you a very fruitful information at least for the most famous paining and sculptures you have seen during the crowded tour. Best advice: plan your Florence trip in May or September to avoid unpleasant summer's high temperatures accompanied by all tourists who are at the same time in the same place. Very good choice to book in advance the tour! Save a lot of effort, money and long waiting time on all long lines! You just book your priority entering with groups. Inside the Galleries we had audio tour which was very welcomed considering the noise caused by so many visitors!

Notre guide était très captivante, une passionnée d'Histoire de Florence, j'ai adoré. Un peu d'attente jusqu'à l'obtention des billets pour la Galerie des Offices. Malgré le très bon déroulement, je déplore une très mauvaise qualité des audiophones. A améliorer à tout prix.

Un fiasco, mais beaucoup d'effort pour le rattraper. Pour un voyage de 2jrs 3nuits arrivés le vendredi soir, cette visite à pied dés le samedi 13.45, suivie de la galerie des offices, nous permettait ensuite de flâner le dimanche selon les conseils de notre guide selon les avis positifs consultés, car malheureusement nous repartions le lundi matin. Arrivés à 13h.15 au point de rdvs, à 13h45 nous étions toujours naufragés abandonnés, le contact local MY TOUR indiqué en information importantes sur notre bon, ETAIT UN N INEXISTANT ??? Heureusement une guide parlant français du concurrent local Florence and Tuscany Tours qui rassemblait ses ouailles a bien voulu utiliser son tél. mais sans plus de succès, tjrs très gentiment elle accepta alors de chercher et de contacter le bureau de MY TOUR a qui elle a expliqué notre situation, ne pouvant attendre plus longtemps elle nous a communiqué CE BON N et souhaité bonne chance, on allait ns rappeler. Etions nous tombés dans une arnaque ??? 5 min. plus tard un cycliste est arrivé en trombe nous a repéré immédiatement s'est excusé, nous a dit que pour la visite à pied ils cherchaient une compensation, mais que pour la galerie nous soyons dans 1h30 à l'entrée il aurait une solution et il est reparti en trombe. A peine avait-il disparu mon portable sonnait, une personne de MY TOUR s'excusait de ce contre temps et nous confirmait les propositions du cycliste messager elle nous rappellerait dans une heure pour la compensation de la visite à pied. 1 h. plus tard nouvel appel tél. et proposition de visite avec une guide particulier parlant français pour le lendemain dimanche à 11h45 devant le bureau de MY TOUR et de nouvelles excuses. 30 mn plus tard devant l'entrée de la galerie le cycliste messager nous confiait à une guide parlant français pour la visite des Offices. Guide très agréable et compétente qui a su dans le temps imparti nous commenter cette immense galerie et nous arrêter sur les oeuvres majeures, puis nous laisser comme prévu flâner avec des conseils jusqu'à la fermeture. Le dimanche à 11h45 le cycliste messager tjrs là nous confiait à une nouvelle guide parlant français pour la visite à pied. Nouvelle guide agréable et compétente qui nous a fait partager ses connaissance et son amour pour cette belle cité. Malheureusement la météo n'était pas de la partie, elle et nous, avons eu très très froid. A la fin de la visite elle nous a ramené dans une pizzeria pour un apéritif offert par l'agence. Conclusion la panique initiale de naufrages abandonnés a vite été oubliée et MY TOUR a bien rattrapé la situation puisque nous avons bénéficiés de 2 visites particulières excellentes. Un bémol tout de même, nous avons perdu du temps et notre séjour minuté sur 2 jours en à pris un coup, heureusement notre hotel réservé sur BOOKING à tenu ses promesses. Une précision qui vous mettra peut être sur une piste pour expliquer ce BUG, lors de ma commande sur le site de VIATOR, étant nouvel inscrit, une remise de bienvenu de 10 m'a été proposée en me précisant qu'elle me serait affichée à la fin de ma commande. Mais arrivé au règlement la remise n'était qu'un mirage !!! Furieux j'ai aussitôt contacté VIATOR qui m'a aimable répondu que j'aurais du les contacter avant de valider !!! Facile à dire mais on ne sait pas qu'elle est la dernière trappe. Mon interlocutrice a tout de même trouvé une solution et j'ai reçu dans la foulée du mail de confirmation un nouveau mail annulant et remplaçant le précédent avec un tarif réduit de 10. Après vérif de ma banque et pour l'instant je n'ai eu qu'un prélèvement du montant remisé et non un prélèvement complet suivi d'un remboursement comme cela était annoncé dans le second mail. Voilà les péripéties d'un nouvel inscrit VIATOR pour un premier séjour en couple à Florence.
