Why Travelers Choose This Tour
Saved to wishlist!
As you take off from the airport in Cambridge in your small plane, cruise over Hobart and the River Derwent, and follow the D’Entrecasteaux Channel over Recherche Bay to South East Cape, the southernmost point of Tasmania.
Soar over the remote wilderness area of UNESCO World Heritage–listed Southwest National Park, marveling at the vastness of its untouched setting, and touch down inside the park at the Melaleuca Inlet. After getting off the plane, enjoy the chance to see an orange-bellied parrot, an endangered species, at the Deny King Bird Hide. Then embark on a boat ride across the inlet and into Bathurst Harbour, a pristine body of water that’s similar in size to Sydney Harbour. While you soak up the fresh air, some of the cleanest on Earth, admire views of the Celery Top Islands.
Return to your plane for the flight back to Cambridge, flying over Mt Picton, Federation Peak, Huonville and central Hobart before landing at the airport to end your tour.
Full-day tour:
If you select this option when booking, you’ll spend about six hours in Southwest National Park. Lunch is included at a scenic location, a world away from the city, and you’ll enjoy brief bush walks with a guide.
Winter tour:
Operating from May to October, this half-day option shows off the park’s natural beauty in the winter months, when snow dapples the wild landscape. Lunch is included, and you’ll spend an additional hour in the park at Claytons Corner on Bathurst Harbour.
