Wonderful Walk
Laura_C
, Mar 2022
We had the best time walking with Richard. He is so friendly and kind. He showed us trails we would have not known about. We saw wildlife and beautiful views. We also sang a bit of Rocky Top straight from Tennessee to the Irish mountains. Highly recommend. Thank you for a lovely time.
Response from Host , Mar 2022
it was lovely to meet you both, and the nice Spring sunshine helped as we walked around the shores of Loch Léin. The deer seemed to enjoy the improved weather as well, and the birds sang for us as well. I hope you continue to have an enjoyable tour around ireland, and come back this way sometime soon.

To explore Killarney, this is one of the best choice. Richard brought us around the park, explained everything in detail. The 2hr walk was woryh and enjoyed the nature's beautiful sceneries.
Response from Host , Oct 2021
It was raining when we met at 11am which was a bit disapointing but as often happens the sun came out a few minutes later, and stayed with us. I was glad to show you some of the places i love in Killarney National Park which i refer to as my back garden, as i was born just a short distance away. Thanks for walking with me, and for writing a great review. I hope you enjoy the rest of your time in Killarney.

Couldn't recommend the guided tour with Richard Clancy we had yesterday. Richard was an excellent guide with great enthusiasm and knowledge.Highly recommended.
Response from Host , Oct 2021
Yes a walk in Killarney National Park is my favourite way of spending a few hours, and the weather gave us plenty of contrast. Loch Léin was nice and calm in a sheltered area but it was like the Atlantic Ocean where the south west wind made it produce massive waves which we call White Horses. Thanks very much for walking with me, and come back soon.

The most entertaining hike ever!

It was late September and rainy so I was the only hardy soul that showed up for the hike. James was my knowledgeable hike leader and Richard joined for a bit as well. When we had to take cover under the trees during the rainstorm, they were literally dancing and singing in the rain for a good laugh. Stunningly beautiful scenery and the funniest, most entertaining hike leaders you could ever want. I'll go again next trip!
Response from Host , Oct 2021
We did get some heavy downpours of good Killarney rain that morning, but that was never going to dampen James spirits. I hasten to add he had not partaken of any spirits, but he is almost a compulsive singer and dancer. I had to join you for some of the walk, and of course i add to sing and dance in the rain as well. Looking forward to your next walk for more of the same.

I made this tour on a heavy rainy day, but with my tour guide Richard Clancy the walk was a great pleasure anyway! He knows every path of the National Park and because of that he can customize the tour. You can bring your dog with you :) Clear recommendation!
Response from Host , Sep 2021
Yes it was a very wet day, but i still enjoyed the walk very much. I think its much better to be outdoors even if its raining rather than been indoors looking out at it. Thanks for walking with me, and for writing a lovely review. I hope you return soon so i can show you some more of the beautiful places in Killarney National Park.

A great morning stroll

Richard our guide is a local born and bred in the area who had an amazing depth of knowledge about the woodland and the lakes including boyhood memories of his popular swimming holes.
He also has a broad grasp of the historical facts in relation to the formation of the National Park and was very willing to impart advise on the area.
As an added boys he is a fluent Irish speaker which is a great help in explaining the background to local places
Response from Host , Sep 2021
I am delighted you enjoyed the guided walk in Killarney National Park. I call this area my back garden as i was born, and raised just across the road from this part of the park. I have walked these pathways all my life, and i love history especially the local stuff. Go raibh míle maith agat (a thousand thanks) for writing a great review, and dont forget to return here for another holiday.

Richard was a great guide and seemed to know everyone in the area. We went through some great trails and identified local plants and saw so many deer. I had a lovely time. It was such a laid back, informative tour and Killarney is so beautiful I wish I could go back.
Response from Host , Sep 2021
I love showing people my back garden Killarney National Park especially when we get the lovely sunshine of recent times. I call it my back garden as i was born, and reared just across the road near St. Marys Cathedral, and exploring the outdoors was always my passion. Thanks for walking with me.

Nature walk in the Kingdom

My family and I travelled from Co.Louth to enjoy the National Park and the great Kerry people. We got both of those on this tour. In heatwave temperatures we skirted the lake edge and rambled through forest. It felt like another kingdom. This National park is safe in the hands of the Kerry people. Mike thanks for the tour and “I’ll get you next time…”.
Response from Host , Jul 2021
Yes we have some places around Loch Léin in Killarney National Park which could be described as Irelands Amazon. I was born and reared just across the road from this area, and its the place i love most. A wilderness area which thankfully hasnt changed much over the centuries. Thanks for walking with me, and for writing this review. Slán go fóill.
Great experience. Great Value.

Great experience. The tour guide provided us with the history of the park, Lakes, Ross Castle, The tree of the sleeping Monk, restaurant recommendations and places to visit. He was also very pleasant and great craic. Tickets were only €10. Well worth it and great value. Can’t go wrong with only a tenner.
Response from Host , Jul 2021
It was a lovely day, and when we get good dry weather i like to go off the beaten path to some of the best places in Killarney National Park. I love to walk around the shore of Loch Léin, and you could easily spend a few hours in the vicinity of Ross Castle or the old copper mines. Thanks for the great review, and i hope you both get the chance to discover more of what Killarney has to offer.

Really enjoyable walk

Thanks Mike for a very enjoyable and informative 2 hours with lots of history of the beautiful Killarney national park. Our walk went off the regular paths but really easy to negotiate as Mike went at our pace. We especially enjoyed seeing the deer out grazing and the jersey cows. We loved hearing the history about the families that lived in there in the past . We would recommend a visit to Killarney House which is free to visit. Mike kept us on our toes with the promise of a little quiz at the end. We would certainly recommend this tour.

We don't normally go on guided tours but we were glade we did. Richard is so friendly and enjoyable to be around, he walks as fast or as slow as required and explains the local points of interest along the way. Richard and his guide partner Rua made our walk a pleasure and he even took longer so that he could share a few hidden spots of beauty. Thanks again Richard and the lovely Rua.
