8:30 AM
Depart from central London in the early morning aboard a luxury coach for Windsor, your first stop of the day. Scout out the market town with its Tudor-style buildings, or opt to visit Windsor Castle.

Next, take in the rolling hills of the English countryside as you travel to the Roman town of Bath. Check off the UNESCO World Heritage–listed city’s top sights. Discover the Royal Crescent and other striking Georgian crescents and terraces, which inspired Jane Austen’s “Northanger Abbey” and “Persuasion” novels. Then, make the most of free time to perhaps visit the Jane Austen Visitor Centre or the Roman Baths (both at own expense).

Back aboard the coach, continue through the vast Salisbury Plains, which are home to a huge number of stone-age mounds and remains. The most famous of these is the UNESCO-listed stone circle at Stonehenge. Stroll around the prehistoric stones and stop by the visitor center to hear theories about how and why it was created.

After, your day trip concludes back at the original departure point in central London.

Please note: This tour’s itinerary will alter slightly from mid October until the end of October due to Stonehenge’s closing hours.

Great tour guide

Our tour guide, David, was excellent. He was very knowledgeable and organized, but still relaxed. While other tour companies were just dropping people off and ushering them through the gates to Windsor Castle and the Roman Baths, David walked around the towns with our little group and pointed out interesting stories about the buildings and history of the location before we entered the sites. It helped that he was originally from Bath, so he really knew what he was talking about. I definitely thought we were getting the most bang for our buck. Just some logistics about the tour: we didn't get the Windsor Castle or Bath tickets in advance, but the tour arrived at Windsor early enough that we were the first in line and could enter the castle very quickly (and I'm not sure if there is ever a line for the Roman Bath exhibit, so that was also no problem). If you didn't want to pay to enter those sites, you could easily have found things to do in the towns of Windsor and Bath. I wish we had a little more time at each of the places, but considering everything we got to do that day, the schedule makes sense. Overall, I would definitely recommend this tour. It was even more fun and informative than I was expecting.

Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and he made the experience absolutely worth every penny. We booked with cityworks for several of our tours in England. They are very good. The guides are engaged and really take the time to educate the tourists. Our guide was from Bath and he was authentically proud of his heritage. It is an excellent way to see all the sites efficiently. Thank you

A Long Day, But Solid Attractions...

I can't complain about the destinations of this tour (Stonehenge, Windsor, and Bath are all awesome). However, you should be aware that this tour is mostly driving since the three stops are fairly far apart. This got old fast, and we only had about an hour at each destination. This also means there is no time for any sit down meals (or even to get take away food, really) if you want to go in and see each attraction - which of course you do, that's the whole point of this tour! So be aware of that, if you want to spend serious time at each spot this is not the tour for you. The tour guide was okay.

A wonderful glimpse into the English Countryside!

Absolutely loved this tour! I researched for hours and hours on various sites to try and find the best use of my time in England. Mark was a fabulous guide for our small group of just under ten people. We had beautiful fall weather making the tour extra enjoyable, but the length of time in each stop was what really made the tour ideal. I was traveling alone so I appreciated the more intimate feel to the tour while still having free time to visit the Roman Baths in Bath, grab lunch in Lacock and wander around Stonehenge. Mark did an amazing job giving plenty of insight into each of the stops on the tour without talking the entire time while driving.

Well paced, enjoyable tour. Our guide Pepe was very knowledgeable and passionate about the sights we were visiting. We were given 2 hours on our own in Bath, 90 minutes in Lacock in the Cotswolds, for lunch, after a nice tour of this tiny town, and about 2-3 hours at Stonehenge. The time in Bath went very quickly, as there is a lot to see at the baths. We didn't have time to see it all. The admission was not included, it was around 14 pounds, and included an audio headset. Lacock is a small village. There are many movies an shows filmed in the area and Pepe was keen to point these places out. Scenes for Pride and Prejudice with Colin Firth was filmed at Lacock Abbbey, as were scenes for Harry Potter movies. The house shown in the second movie belonging to his real parents is there. Stonehenge has grown considerably since I last visited. The car park and visitor's center is far from Stonehenge and requires transport by bus. The line for the bus was quite long and the buses did not run as frequently as I felt they should have, only my opinion, but one is ready and excited to see this special place and the delay was frustrating. Pepe, was very good at explaining the various theories behind this collection of rocks and gave us great insights. He was obviously very passionate about this area and it showed. He answered questions with humor and great interest. In all it was a long, but great day. Pepe's enthusiasm added to the experience and we all had a great time. We met the group at the Gloucester Tube station at 7:30am and returned around around 7:30pm. Thanks, Pepe, for a great day!

This tour was wonderful! So much history in one day. Our tour guide, Pepe, was very knowledgeable about the history of England. Bath was impressive. We loved the drive thru the Cotswolds. The pub lunch was great. We highly recommend The George Inn in Lacock. The bathrooms are pristine. Stonehenge was marvelous. We’ve never seen anything like it. So old! This tour is a must for anyone visiting England. Be prepared to walk a LOT. City Wondets Tour Company is great!

A Lot to See

This is a full day and covers a lot of ground. I knew it would be a whirlwind tour and it was. Our guides were good. I thought there might be a little more commentary on the long drive out to Bath about history and places but what we did get was satisfactory. If you are short on time and want to pack several sights in, then this is a good tour for you. But be advised you will not have more than 90 minutes or so in each location.
