Depart Madrid by air-conditioned coach and relax onboard as you travel toward your first stop, Avila.

En route, listen as your guide provides fascinating commentary about this beautifully preserved medieval city, the birthplace of the Spanish mystic, Saint Teresa, in the 16th century.

Stop at the viewpoint of the Four Posts (Cuatro Postes) for sweeping views of the UNESCO-protected, old walled city. Admire the 11th-century walls and towers, and then explore two of the town’s most impressive Romanesque and Gothic churches. Take in the fortress design and alabaster chapels of Avila Cathedral, and visit the Basilica of St. Vincent.

Then, continue to Segovia, a history-steeped city with Roman roots, set between the Eresma and Clamores rivers. Admire the stunning, 2-tiered Roman aqueduct, one of the best-preserved ancient monuments in Spain. Learn about the construction of the aqueduct during the 1st century, and its 166 arches and 120 pillars.

Next, head to the Alcazar, a spectacular 11th-century fortress-palace that was one of the inspirations behind Walt Disney's Cinderella castle. Take a guided tour of the UNESCO-listed, building as you hear how it served as a royal palace, prison and artillery college.

Afterward, explore some of old Segovia’s other highlights, including Segovia Cathedral, the last Gothic cathedral to be built in Spain.

Enjoy free time for lunch (own expense) during your explorations or opt to upgrade to enjoy either a simple tourist-style meal or a delicious gastronomic feast showcasing Segovian delicacies such as roasted suckling pig.

After your time in Segovia, return to Madrid where your tour concludes at the start point.

Well worth the money. Highly recommend.

Our guide was excellent. Even though she had to do the presentation in two languages, she always took the time to make sure both groups understood. The walled city of Avila was stunning. In Segovia, the two highlights were the aqueduct and the Alcazar, although the entire town was beautiful.

This tour was amazing. We saw the highlights of both cities, and our guide, Jorge, hit the right tone for the tour. He transitioned seamlessly between Spanish and English throughout the day, even though my husband was the only one who didn’t speak Spanish. Interesting historical facts were shared and questions answered. We opted for the lunch included and felt it was worth the money.

Bus was very comfortable. Tour was on time. Guide was good but not clear on exact meeting point. Overall a good, but not great experience.
The Alcazar was the highlight of the trip.

Very lovely trip through the countryside. Avila and Segovia make a great day trip from Madrid. Lots of history. Our guide was very good.
Comprehensive tour

This tour is a great way to see these great cities in a day. Very well organised day. Our guide Beatrice has excellent English and kept the group moving. My only criticism of the tour was that it includes the wall and tower in Avila but we were literally on the wall for 5 minutes. I think if we were given at least 15 mins to walk along a section it would have been more enjoyable. One and a half hours allocated for lunch so 15 mins from this time could be used on the walls or add half hour to the duration of the day and add that into Avila.

I’d do it again!

The pace was good. What we saw was fabulous. The guide Nouri was most helpful. Suggestion: have a place to ask for food allergies. I could not eat some of the things served for lunch but the restaurant tried their best to accommodate me. Highly recommend the trip and the tour company. Office is a nice place to wait and staff very helpful.
Avila amd Segovia full day trip from Madrid
, Jan 2020
The guide was wonderful. The day was amazing. This day trip from Madrid is a must if you have the time. Do the full day. We opted for the tapas and wine and then ordered a la cart off the menu for lunch. Avila’s history was Interesting and one highlight was waking on top of the walls of the city and walking on two or three towers of the 88 along the 2.2 KM of walls. Just incredible views and history. Segovia was Incredible. Buy the tour option where you go into Alcazar castle. It’s amazing. It’s the castle Disney modeled their castle on and the rooms inside and history from the tour guide won’t disappoint. The Roman aqueducts in Segovia are well Preserved. Both towns are quaint and weren’t crowded, but that’s likely due to our off season holiday. Gorgeous views all around.
Not for solo travelers

Maybe the worst tour I took on my holiday. Don't get me wrong, the views were beautiful, and the tour guide was knowledgeable, but the english tour was given in both english and spanish, so it just seemed like she spoke the entire time, so it left no room for questions, or getting to know the other tour members. I travel alone alot, and i never felt so isolated on a group tour.
