Great tour! Good location not too far from Medellin and the breadth of coffee education is just what I needed to better understand both the drink and the trade overall. Andres is very smart and well schooled in the coffee business.

Guys, This tour is a must do! This was the best thing we have experienced this far. Our tour guide was safe, full of knowledge and extremely friendly. The coffee farm was a dream! You get to people who actually live and work on the farm and exchange stories. You get to do everything from pick coffee beans to plant them. You will never look at coffee the same way! Like I said it is a must do!

Everything We Could Have Hopes For

We had high expectations for this coffee tour and each was exceeded. Andres was an excellent guide: he passed his expertise on coffee production to us in an informative and interesting way. We loved sampling the coffee grown at the farm brewed 4 different ways. The hike that was included as part of the bean picking got us into nature and introduced some nice activity into the experience. Andres’s tour company has developed a strong relationship with a great, small, sustainable coffee farm that made us feel completely at home. We loved Antonio, the coffee farmer, we treated us so well and was a very interesting man. Andres gave us great recommendation about our larger Medellín trip, which was nice. That this tour is only a 30 min drive is really convenient and rare. One tip: don’t turn down the insect repellent! We wouldn’t hesitate to book another tour with Andres and MedellinDayTrips in the future, as we had an irreplaceable experience.

Amazing coffee tour

This half day coffee was such an amazing experience!!! My guide Andres was polite, friendly and funny, and his English was brilliant having done a masters in UK. We travelled only 30 minutes or so from my hotel meaning that we had more time to spend at the small farm outside of Medellin. Antonio and family who run the farm were so friendly and welcoming, and joined us at the table for coffee. During the tour we tried four different types of coffee brewed in different ways, each giving distinctive flavours which Andres explained throughout. The highlight of the tour for me was going up into the hills and picking my own beans which we then took back to the farm for processing. I learnt so much about the process thanks to Andres and his vast knowledge. I was so happy to see a small batch farm like this doing so well and as a coffee lover am so glad I did the tour. I was on my own so it was slightly more expensive but I don’t regret a penny - it was the highlight of my time in Colombia and one of the best tours I’ve ever done. Thank you so much Andres!!!

This was the highlight of my trip to Medellin. We went as a large student group to Joneal farm and they were the most welcoming and friendly people. I would highly recommend this for any ecotourists visiting the Medellin area.

WEAR JEANS AND SNEAKERS ON THIS TOUR...
Michele S.

WEAR JEANS AND SNEAKERS ON THIS TOUR!! Andres was my tour guide and it was a private tour. He was very knowledgeable and personable about the area. It was only about 30 minutes outside town and I felt very safe the whole way. The coffee farm has about 1,000 trees and it is privately owned by an older couple named Nina and Jose. Although they do not speak any English they are the sweetest, kindest, people you would ever want to meet. They walked you through all nine steps of the coffee making process and you have the opportunity to buy some bags of coffee through them. It was a really fantastic tour and I would highly recommend. I've done other coffee tours before in different countries but I liked this the best by far because you really got to pick the beans, skin them, roast the coffee etc... I want to note that I would have given this tour 5 stars if it weren't for Andres the guide and driver. I thought the weather was going to be hot so I dressed in shorts and flip flops. I was the only person on the tour and he picked me up at the hotel he should have told me to change my clothes since up in the mountains it is cooler and there are mosquitoes. Even though Nena offered me insect repellent I suffered from numerous bug bites and spent the remainder of the day trying to find a pharmacy to get some hydrocortisone.
