Return Details

P.za del Duomo, Milano MI, Italy
See the chief sights and landmarks of Milan on this info-packed guided walking tour. With your guide by your side the entire time, you'll be within earshot of the city's fascinating history. Start off at the gorgeous Duomo, a huge and ornate gothic structure and one of the most beautiful churches in the world.

Then stroll over to nearby Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, maybe one of the most aesthetically pleasing shopping malls on the planet. Its impressive 19th-century glass ceiling is worth a look in and of itself. After walking through the Galleria, stop in front of La Scala, the city's main opera house and one of the most renowned in Europe. Built in the late 18th century, La Scala has seen a who's who of famed composers and musicians in the last 200 years.

Head over to the trendy and cool Brera district, crammed with funky boutiques, trendy bars and hip restaurants. Home to the city's Bohemian set, the neighborhood's streets are picturesque and make for a pleasant stroll. Eventually, you'll find yourself at imposing Sforza Castle, where you can take some time to admire the late-medeival fortress.

The last stop and the highlight of the day is your skip-the-line admission to Leonardo de Vinci's The Last Supper. After you breeze past the line, head inside the former food hall of the convent. You get 15 minutes in front of the masterpiece, so use it wisely. Make sure you step back and see the painting in a larger context: that the monks who ate there felt like they were dining with Jesus and his disciples.

After your 15 minutes are over, head outside where the tour concludes.

Please note: The above itinerary is applicable to options departed from Piazza Duomo only. If you select a departure time from Piazza Santa Maria delle Grazie , the tour will start at The Last Supper and finish with the walking tour around Piazza del Duomo. Visits inside the Duomo are not possible on Sundays or religious holidays. On these days, a detailed tour will be given from outside of the Duomo
Itinerary
Stop At:
Duomo di Milano
If your time in Milan is limited, or if you want an overview to guide your exploration, this one-day walking tour is the perfect introduction, taking in all the most prominent sights – including guaranteed entry to see Da Vinci’s ‘The Last Supper’. Led by your local, English-speaking guide, you’ll visit some iconic sights and some on the path less travelled. You’ll get to skip the line at Milan Duomo and experience this world-famous cathedral without waiting – unlike the city itself, which waited nearly 600 years for the incredible building to be completed. The tour will pause again so you can admire the medieval Sforza Castle, before delving into the cobbled streets of the Brera district. This is the beating heart of Milan’s social and cultural life, as your guide will explain. You’ll hear about all the famous artists and thinkers that have called Brera home, as well as some more up-to-date recommendations of places to revisit later for a drink or a meal.
Duration: 2 hours 30 minutes
Admission Ticket Included
Stop At:
Castello Sforzesco
You'll see another architectural wonder at the Medieval Sforza Castle, which your guide will explain from the outside.
Duration: 10 minutes

Pass By:
Brera District
Along the way you’ll pass through the cobbled streets of the Brera district where you’ll find the heart of Milan’s social life. With your guide leading the way you’ll hear about the artists and intellectuals that once called these streets home, and get some tips on where to visit for a meal or a drink later.
Pass By:
Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II
Our next stop is the impressive Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, a 19th century glass vaulted shopping arcade. Brimming with fashionable shops and cafés, it is often called the drawing room of Milan for its importance as a common meeting point. Passing through the Gallery we arrive at Piazza della Scala, the square which houses the world renowned Scala Theatre – Milan’s Opera House since 1778 which is still in use. Some of the greatest musicians and singers in history have performed here, notably Giuseppe Verdi whose famous operas, such as Falstaff, often premiered in this very theatre.
Stop At:
Il Cenacolo
It all builds to a viewing of Leonardo Da Vinci’s phenomenal mural, ‘The Last Supper’. Often imitated, never bettered, this masterpiece is carefully preserved, and only one group is allowed to view it at a time. This can make tickets a challenge to acquire, but yours are included in this package, along with special Skip the Line Access – so you’re guaranteed your full 15 minutes with the fresco. Listen as your guide points out the details that earn ‘The Last Supper’ its place in the history books. After just one day, you’ll find your relationship to Milan forever changed for the better.

Corrado was an excellent guide- giving us exceptional explanations and historical information. I’m so glad I took the tour of the Duomo because I never would have been able to know what to look for - least of all - the meaning behind the objects. To finally see The Last Supper was wonderful!!

Guide did not have a ticket to go into the The Last Supper with the group. She did not explain about the picture until we were out on the sidewalk. Would have been nice to see the painting while she explained it. We were also unable to go into the Duomo with our guide. She explained what to see outside and gave us tickets to enter the Duomo later in the day. This wasn’t an inexpensive tour, the guide should have been with the group inside the sites.

Well worth the price for Italian visitors that are novices like us!

Our guide was very knowledgeable and well-spoken on Italian history and art. We learned a lot of things along the way for sure. It is a long walk for the tour, so be sure to wear some comfortable shoes. The Duomo was not open to visitors in the morning and we had to catch a train in the afternoon after the tour, so unfortunately we missed that part of the excursion, which is a bit of a bummer.

Excellent tour. Our tour guide Barbara was very knowledgeable in everything we saw. There was practically no wait for the Duomo, which was quite impressive. Of course the other major landmark for the tour (as well as the city) was DaVinci’s Last Supper, which was quite impressive in person.

Our guide was sensational, so sorry but believe his name was Paolo. He was very knowledgeable and thorough, with interesting tidbits of information. It is a 2 1/2hr tour but you don’t realize it because you are enthralled taking in all the beautiful sites. Would highly recommend this tour to any visitor.

We saw and learned so much more than we could have done on our own!

My son and I traveled to Milan in July 2021. We had limited time and wanted to see as much as possible - but we also wanted to really learn about what we were seeing. Conrad was a fantastic tour guide and incredibly knowlegeable about all of the sites we were seeing. I feel like we saw and learned so much more than we could have done on our own. Don't just go to these site - spend the extra money and go with a guide who can help your learn more about them. Yes - there was a lot of walking, but we never felt overwhelmed. Conrad also took us through some beautiful "off the path" neighborhoods that we propbably never would have seen otherwise. We ended up back that way for dinner later.

Seeing the Duomo and the Last Supper up close with the knowledgeable insight of our guide was a great way to do it. Wandering the streets of Milan in a small group allowed for a lot of information about the city to be shared.
