A great time at the Whitney and the Swamp Tour
, Feb 2020
We had a great time at the Whitney Plantation and then at the pontoon boat swamp tour. The driver picked us up at the airport and took us to the plantation. It’s about 55 min drive after all other passengers were picked up too. The driver then drove us from the plantation to the swamp tour. There are about 5 markets about 2 minute walk from the tour office, so be sure to eat some alligator sausages and po boy sandwiches before you board the boat. The pontoon boat doesn’t go as fast as the airboat, so it’s suitable in colder days. We saw three alligators on the tour. The driver picked us up at the swamp tour and returned us to the hotel.

I am so happy that I chose to do this combo tour. If you want to know about the slave experience visit WHITNEY PLANTATION, there is nothing like it! Our tour guide Dion was AMAZING and she was, no exaggeration, one of the best tings about the tour. She was so informative and gave great recommendations for restaurants and entertainment. She was so loving and was the epitome of Southern hospitality. The swamp tour was fun and even though it was a bit cold we were still able to see two alligators. They picked us up from our Air BnB and everything was timely and perfect! Try this tour.

Wonderfully organized tour - the Whitney plantation has an interesting museum attached that shows more realistically the perils of slavery and does not glorify the antebellum era. The swamp tour was refreshing and our guide was very knowledgeable and gave us a good oversight into life on the bayous and river.
