Visit the owners of rustic stalls and authentic restaurants, sampling diverse delicacies and traditional treats. Indulge in adventurous dishes such as tacos stuffed with crunchy grasshoppers (if in season) and escamoles (ant eggs) for an unforgettable epicurean experience. Those seeking classic favorites will delight in dishes like cochinita pibil, slow-roasted pork that dates back to Mayan times; pozole, a wholesome and hearty spiced pork soup; and traditional tamales, steamed and stuffed corn wrapped in tender banana leaves.

After eating your fill of fabulous local fare, begin tasting a selection of Mexico’s most famous beverages. Get into the spirit of things at a local tequiliera, sampling shots of the legendary liquid while learning the history and manufacturing process. Shop for special souvenirs and purchase an authentic bottle of tequila to take home to friends and family – tour participants even receive a discount.

Board a comfortable, air-conditioned minivan to journey to the tour’s ultimate destination, 5 Avenida, known as 5th Avenue. Fun food tour of Playa Del Carmen. Do this on your first day so you can get familiar with the area. We made 6 stops and had plenty to sample...taco, tamales, drinks, gelato, and Marquesitas a crepe with nutella and cheese-strange combination but very delicious. We had a group of 9 and had to taxi back to a set location. We went in 3 different taxis. When we arrived, we waited at the designated place and almost gave up on ever seeing the group again but finally the tour guide, David, showed up with his group...a small blip in the tour but it all turned out ok! Pricey but fun!

I think this was a good tour, mainly because of the tour guide who was very friendly and tried to explain everything the best way he could. althought i think is too expensive for what it is. I did a similar tour in new york for half the price.
