Depart your central Reykjavik hotel by air-conditioned coach and gaze out over Iceland’s rugged landscapes as you journey toward the south coast.

As you travel, listen as your guide shares tales of south Iceland, an area rich in picturesque villages and natural spectacles such as glacial rivers, waterfalls, and volcanic peaks.

Drive through villages such as Selfoss, Vik, and Kirkjubaejarklaustur, and marvel at the snow-capped mountains and epic landscapes of Skaftafell, part of the Vatnajökull National Park.

Visit the spectacular Skogarfoss waterfall, and drive through the volcanic desert of Skeidarasandur—a vast sand plain where sandstorms can be so intense that they strip paint from cars!
Pass Iceland's largest active volcano, the ice-covered, sub-glacial Oraefajokull, and gaze up at 6950-foot (2,119-meter) Hvannadalshnjukur on its summit crater, the country’s highest peak.

Shortly afterward, arrive at Jokulsarlon Lagoon: a breathtaking expanse of water strewn with ice chunks that has provided the backdrop for several action films, including the James Bond hit 'Die Another Day' and the 2001 'Lara Croft: Tomb Raider' movie.

Stop a Seljalandfoss on your way back to Reykjavik, where you have the opportunity to follow the path behind the falls. Your day trip concludes with drop-off at your hotel.

These large sparkling pieces of ice are eventually pushed back onto the beach by the ocean waves creating an impromptu ice sculpture garden on the black sands giving the beach its name, Diamond Beach.

glacier lagoon worth it! Grayline less so

Great trip. We really wanted to go to see the glacier lagoon/diamond beach and it did not disappoint really worth the trip. It is a very long drive though with little breaks for scenic photos - 1 or 2 more would have been lovely. We took our own breakfast and lunch to reduce the cost of food but in winter eating locations wasn't great. The coach says no drink or food to be eaten on it.... we are grown adults paying enough that always is I find disrespectful, just clean the coach between trips, other companies we went with had no problems. We also had an issue with the pick up location. our whole trip had been cancelled due to storm Denis and when we rebooked out accommodation had to be changed. We called viator and I have a confirmation email confirming a switch in pick up location. It turns out though Gray line office did not honour this request and we nearly missed the tour. A pick up bus for a different tour helped us out and got us to the bus who had not come to our stop to pick us up. We had the same issue with our transfers home. I would therefore not recommend using gray line in future. However having said this if it is your only option to go and see the glacier lagoon & diamond beach it is worth taking it! It is a beautiful place.

Great Tour

My partner and i enjoyed this tour, even though 14 hours was a long day the scenery was beautiful and our tour guide was funny and informative. The journey was also broken up into stops with plenty of time look around Vik, Jokulsarlon and the waterfalls. The glacier lagoon made the trip and was worth the long drive. However, based on our experience, 2 girls in front were very inconsiderate and selfish when they decided to recline their chairs! All in all though it was an amazing day!

Amazing especially Halli the tour guide

On Sunday, me and my friend booked this tour with grey line and it was the best decision we made throughout our whole stay in Iceland. Everything you get to see is amazing and picturesque. On top of this, we had the best tour guide called Halli for short. He was knowledgable and humourous throughout the tour and he connected and spoke to everyone. Perfect tour guide for an incredible trip which we would highly recommend booking.

Worth the time and money!! Do this tour!!

Simon was a great tour guide. Even though this trip was long it was so worth it. We saw more ice on diamond beach than even the tour guides had ever seen. We had a breath taking stop at glacier lagoon and we saw a spectacular display of the northern lights at seljalandsfoss. Honestly a perfect day. Made even more so by our knowledgable tour guide and a great tour company. If you are spending the money anyways choose a tour thats comfortable and worth it. This one is both.
