Horrible local guide

Luigi and Roberta we great but once we meet with our local guide in Naples it went completely downhill!! Neta (?) wasn't horrible to our group, rude, snippy, argumentative and dismissive. We spent a lot of time standing around while she spend a lot of time only talking Spanish. She spent so much time doing this that we missed 90% of Pompeii. We weren't allowed to see the actual casts, because "no time" She was sooo rude to a German family that I apologized to them for her. You could tell she didn't want to be there and we were a burden to her. Luckily, I took a different tour the next day, to a different place and found that group of employees AMAZING!!! If I could give our driver, Luigi and our original guide, Roberta 5 stars, I most certainly would.

Dear client, many thanks for taking the time to share your feedback. We will certainly take it into consideration and investigate further about the reported behaviour of that guide. I would like to apologize on behalf of my company for what you experienced. Such things should not occur with our guides. Best regards

Good but more time needed

Waste of time going to Naples as tour was too short. Pompeii was excellent but also needed more time. A day trip to each would be better.

The tour should leave at 5am . .. not 7.30am Very rushed through naples city. . Would of loved to seen more of the beautiful city. A great day. But not really worth the money i paid. It was rushed through a beautiful city. Should leave earlier so more time in naples. Loved the places we went. But would of loved to seen alot more of the city.

Dear client, thanks for your honest review. We are sorry to hear your disappointment and will take it into serious consideration. Despite this is a 13-hour trip, driving to and from Naples can sometimes take a lot of time, so the schedule can be a little tight some days. Nevertheless most clients are happy to take a glimpse of Naples and have lunch there, instead of spending the whole day in Pompei only. IMHO time is never enough at Pompeii excavations: even 4 hours might be too short to visit the whole site. If you are really keen on archaeology, you could easily spend 2 full days there! Best regards

Fantastic Tour

Fantastic tour. The drive was in a comfortable bus so it went by quickly (it’s worth noting that you cannot eat on the bus). We stopped halfway there at a little spot where coffee and sandwiches could be purchased. Then we continued onto Naples, where we got a short but thorough guided tour by a local, then had a great lunch of pizza, pasta, and pastry (included with tour price). Wine or beer could be purchased separately if you wanted. Then we spent the rest of the afternoon at Pompeii with a guided tour through the ruins. We stopped at the same place on the way back for a break, then there were several dropoff points in Rome at the end. Definitely recommend!

Very Slow Pace
Rich P

I knew going into this that this was going to be a very long day with a bus ride 3 hours back and forth from Rome but I really wanted to see Pompeii so for me that was worth it. The bus ride was fine, the bus was nice and air conditioned so it was very comfortable. Once we got to Naples we met our official tour guide. She proceeded to give us a roughly hour to 90 minute tour of Naples which was very unimpressive including walking us through a bakery that we weren't given time to purchase from and through the back alleys of a very poor part of town to see how the people live, it was a very bizarre tour, and that was followed by lunch in Naples. The lunch was fine but nothing special. Once we finally got to Pompeii the tour was very slowly paced. If you are only going to have 2 hours in Pompeii you need to move it along. The guide spent a lot of time going over some particular pieces of graffiti and other small items in painstaking detail. Pompeii is massive and I would have loved to have used my time to see more of the major sites. Not only did the tour move very slowly but they kept losing people along the way that we had to wait for but we weren't given any free time to explore on our own. Looking back I would look for a tour that doesn't include Naples or to try and do Pompeii on your own and see what you want to see. The only caution I would give for that is most of the historical plaques/signs didn't include English like they did at the major sites in Rome.

Dear client, we are really sorry to read that this trip did not meet your expectations. We have to keep an unhurried pace in order to let everybody listen to the guide and appreciate Pompeii's unique heritage. You can certainly go faster on your own, but without a professional guide you would be missing most important information and some of the main monuments. We always need to make a compromise among the desired pace of everyone in the group (believe it or not, some say we go too quickly!). Thanks for understanding, best regards

Bucket List Item

We had a wonderful time on our trip. Going to Pompeii has always been a bucket list item. Our guide once we got to naples was wonderful. We broke up into an English speaking group and a Spanish speaking group. That allowed things to go by fast. The Naples pizza place we stopped at was delicious and very filling. My only down side is that the drop of location was not the same as the pickup location but that wasn't told to you prior to booking. So we had a 40min walk home after spending an entire day of walking around the city.
