Return Details

Returns to original departure point
Hop aboard your coach in central Rome, and travel south in air-conditioned comfort to Italy’s Campania region. As you travel, listen to tales about the colorful southern Italian area and Mt. Vesuvius.

After the volcano’s infamous AD 79 eruption, lava and volcanic ash destroyed the cities of Herculaneum and Pompeii. Evidence of those ancient streams of lava is still evident in the area.

First head from Rome to Pompeii. Once a thriving Roman city; today the town is best known for its UNESCO-listed archaeological digs, which are home to a wealth of relics. See incredibly preserved fossils and other ruins, plus plaster imprints of the town’s victims who were buried for years.

See the remains of the Forum and Teatro Grande, where some 5,000 people could once be seated. During your self-guided tour, learn about day-to-day life for the Pompeii locals as you wander streets where ancient shops, cafes and even brothels could be found.

Enjoy free time for sightseeing.

Then, journey to the infamous volcano. Step out of your coach for a steady-paced, walk to Mt Vesuvius’ summit, from where the most breathtaking views await. Make your way over trails covered in pumice rock and ash, before some free time to gaze down into the caldera and across the Bay of Naples.

Finally, head back to Rome by coach and finish with a drop-off at the start point.

Please note: Mt Vesuvius is inaccessible from mid-November to March. During this time, the hike is replaced with a visit to the iconic City of Naples. Take a panoramic bus tour and have some free time to walk around the city center.

Stop At:
Pompeii Archaeological Park
The eruption in AD 79 spelled a fiery end for Pompeii, but the catastrophe also almost perfectly preserved the port city under layers of Volcanic ash. Thousands of years later, you can still explore the eerie streets and step inside homes, bathhouses and fast food places on your self-guided tour. You’ll travel from Rome to Pompeii in an air-conditioned private coach, accompanied and entertained all the way by your expert tour co-ordinator. Skip the line at Pompeii and head for a leisurely self-led tour around the city which paints a vivid picture of life in final days before the eruption. Throughout the ruins, you’ll come across harrowing death casts: plaster recreations of unfortunate citizens preserved by the superheated volcanic ash.
Duration: 1 hour 30 minutes
Admission Ticket Included
Stop At:
Vesuvius National Park
It’s a short coach ride from Pompeii to the foot of the volcano that still looms above it. A half-mile hike from the parking lot takes you right to the sometimes still-steaming crater of Mt. Vesuvius – still perhaps the most dangerous volcano in the world. Stand at the epicentre of that ancient disaster and feel awe at the utter devastation it must have caused, to blast an entire city off the map for millennia. Then turn and enjoy the contrast: the crater offers the most stunning view of the sun-drenched Bay of Naples. In the winter months, when Vesuvius is closed for hiking, the tour travels from Pompeii to Naples, with panoramic views of the volcano and historical commentary from your tour co-ordinator along the way. You’ll have ample free time to explore Naples – a city as vibrant and alive as Pompeii is quiet and affecting – before the comfortable coach returns you to Rome.
Duration: 2 hours
Admission Ticket Included

  • During summer months in rare cases of inclement weather or strikes, the crater of Vesuvius may be closed to visitors. In this case, an alternative visit to the city of Naples will be included.

Perfect Day Trip!
, Jan 2022
My daughter and I decided to take a last minute day trip and try to see as much as possible. The Pompeii and Amalfi Coast tour seemed perfect and it absolutely was!! Our tour guide Angela was so incredibly knowledgeable, welcoming, and helpful. We learned so much from her about each location and then we had the added bonus of getting tips on what to see, do, and eat while back in Rome. Giuseppe, our bus driver was kind and cautious, we felt safe for the entire trip and he made every accommodation for us to stop for photo opportunities. Enzo, our guide in Pompeii, was wonderful. He was friendly, knowledgeable and patient, allowing us time to explore on our own as well as guiding us through. All in all it was a perfect day. If you’re short on time and want to pack in some amazing sights, this trip is the one! Highly recommend.

We had a great day. Our tourguide had enough knowlegde of Italy and great tips for our stay in Rome.
Bad experience

The trip was normal, the guide was good, but from the promised trip to the Amalfi coast and Positano - not a message. No one even offered it. Took to Pompeii, after visiting them - to a rather bad restaurant, later 1.5 hours to Naples, where there is really nothing to see. And all. No coastline, no more.

Pompeii is a must see, great guides/clean bus
, Jan 2022
Excellent tour and highly recommend this tour! There is a lot of time on the bus but that cannot be avoided from Rome. Pompeii is a must see and the only way to really see what a Roman village/city would have looked like. Unfortunately it took a travesty to preserve the ancient city but is still a great place to visit nevertheless. Guides were great!
Okay tour but wouldn't recommend it
, Jan 2022
Taking two stars off because the tour guide, Andrea, forgot us at the restaurant that he insisted we all went to for lunch and sent the rest of the group to explore Amalfi without us. In the end we only had 25 min left to see Amalfi before heading back to Rome. Regarding the second half of the trip, tour description is also not clear whether you are getting free time in Napoli or going to Amalfi.
Pompeii and Amalfi
, Dec 2021
Pompeii tour was fascinating; Amalfi was beautiful; and our guide and driver completed the perfect day
A fantastic experience visiting an ancient city of Pompeii
, Dec 2021
Francesco was such a knowledgeable guide. He explains every little details about Italy throughout the journey. The entrance to Pompeii was smooth, and the panorama of Amalfi is simply breathtaking. Maybe a little nitpick about this journey is that, half of the time was spent on the road, considering the distance between Rome and Naples, so prepare yourself and wear comfortable garments.

We had the most wonderful day with Angela and Gianna. Cannot imagine going without all the history, guidance, laughs we had on the way to and from Pompeii/Naples! Wonderful!
How to waste a day in a bus
, Dec 2021
Despite the excellent Federico, who make a good job, clear and interesting, the ratio between time in Pompéi (1h30) and time in the bus (10h) is not relevant. Please don’t go south of Pompéi. We really wished to stay more time on the site, to visit more than the short tour we did and have as second visit in a museum related to Pompéi (seeing the artefacts, furniture, bodies in their last life moment..) ….. Having so much additional time in bus to have a standard lunch in Amalfi has no sense (even if Amalfi coast is very nice). Please redesign the tour.
