Using your skip-the-line tickets, gain priority admission to the grand amphitheater and marvel at the spectacular 60,000-seat arena. As you admire the impressively preserved ruins, listen as your guide brings the Colosseum back to life, telling stories of ancient Roman emperors, gladiator games, and wild beast fights.

Continue to the Roman Forum, the grand centerpiece of ancient Rome, where the remarkably preserved temples, basilicas, and public squares offer a fascinating glimpse into Roman life. While you’re there, hear the story of the Lapis Niger, an ancient Latin text housed in the base of one of the columns in the Forum, and visit the Temple of the Vestal Virgins, once home to the virgin priests of Vesta.

Your tour concludes at the Colosseum.

Palatine Hill
The significance of Palatine Hill is that it was here that Rome (and hence the whole of the Roman Empire) was founded under the direction of Romulus. The Palatine Hill is the site of the Lupercal Cave where folklore says the twins Romulus and Remus were found by the she-wolf Lupa (symbol of Rome) who raised them. In later years, the hill became a residential district attracting the nobility. It was also believed that the air was cleaner at the top of the hill, and the nobility were less likely to catch the diseases of the poorer classes at the bottom. In time, however, the area gave way to imperial palaces and drew the famous such as Caligula (murdered here by members of his Praetorian Guard) and Nero.

Tempio di Vesta
The Temple of Vesta (Latin Aedes Vestae; Italian: Tempio di Vesta) is an ancient edifice in Rome, Italy, located in the Roman Forum near the Regia and the House of the Vestal Virgins. The temple's most recognizable feature is its circular footprint. Since the worship of Vesta began in private homes, the architecture seems to be a reminder of its history. The extant temple used Greek architecture with Corinthian columns, marble, and a central cella. The remaining structure indicates that there were twenty Corinthian columns built on a podium fifteen meters in diameter. The roof probably had a vent at the apex to allow smoke release.

We were a family with three teenagers travelling in Rome. We visited first the Forun Romanum and after The Coliseum. Valeria was very competent and friendly. She has extremely good historical knowledge and was able to transport it light and understandable.

We felt quite lucky to have Azzurra Della Seta as our tour guide for a trip through time to the Coluseum and Roman Forum. She has a terrifically warm personality and is extremely conscientious, which we appreciated immensely. For example, part of our tour included a pickup and drop off at our hotel, in crowded Rome. Azzurra was at the hotel early and ready to scoop us - which helped a great deal as we were running late, but didn’t have to worry. She has great enthusiasm for the periods we wanted to tour, and is exceptional at educating those who also love the knowledge. Azzurra was a wonderful guide, and we had such a fun day with her!
Excellent Tour

Alessandra was a great guide. We only had few hours in Rome so we chose to see the Coliseum and Roman ruins. The guide was very knowledgeable and walked us right into the Coliseum with no wait. She took us to the Trevi Fountain and walked to a quiet section of Rome with shops and restaurants where we said goodbye.
Great Tour

We expected a van with a driver and guide as in Santiago, Chile. Marco hired two taxis. Marco continually walked too fast for our group of older travelers. I mentioned that to him numerous times. He said “(he) was a walker.” We had significant mobility issues that come with age. At the end of the three hour tour that took 2:20 hours, he was going to leave us to tour by ourselves. We were surprised that we had to remind him we expected to be returned to the hotel where he met us.
