Muir Woods National Monument is a must-see destination on any visit to the San Francisco Bay Area. Just a short drive across the Golden Gate Bridge, the protected nature reserve is home to one of the world’s last remaining coastal redwood forests.

Choose from a morning or afternoon departure. Stop at a vista point for a fantastic perspective of the Golden Gate and Alcatraz, and wind through the rolling emerald hills of the Marin Headlands to arrive at Muir Woods. Stroll along forest paths surrounded by the giant redwood trees, some of which stretch as high as 250 feet (76 meters) and date back nearly 800 years.

After Muir Woods, take a short drive to the artistic bayside village of Sausalito. Capture wonderful photos of the San Francisco skyline during a stroll along the waterfront, pop into one of the many art galleries and grab a cappuccino or ice cream at a local café (own expense).

Your tour concludes with drop-off at Union Square in San Francisco or choose the option of taking the ferry back to San Francisco from Sausalito.

I loved going to Muir Woods and Sausalito! It was a very enjoyable trip and I very much enjoyed our guide as well- whose name is slipping my mind! He said such great information to share and I felt he was a great driver. I also want to thank the manager of the company for informing me about the ferry not running and that I would be receiving a refund. I am very impressed with Gray Line Tours. Thanks for the great day!

1. The bus, had more people than seats. They forgot 7 people and had to circle back and pick them up. Thank goodness a couple traveling with us decided not to go. 2. Arrival at Muir Woods, sign says free to those under 16. So why did I have to pay for 3 kids age 8, 12, 14. 3. Bought ferry tickets also for my group. Ferry was not running. Do I get a refund. 4. Was supposed to be able to spend time in saucilito. But instead we had one hour for lunch, ate lunch and back on the bus, tour was over I feel I’m due a partial refund. 5. Driver was fabulous!!! He was very informative. Enjoyed him !! 6.Bus was nice and comfortable

Dear Sheral, Thanks for your feedback. We are truly sorry we did not uphold the standards of tour quality and organization we pride ourselves on. Your reservation did not show in our system with the Ferry option included; that is why we did not inform your group about the circumstances before the tour date, and you did not receive any refund yet. I have personally processed it today; as soon as we received your message. It should reflect your account in 2-3 business days. Our apologies for the inconvenience caused. Regarding the stop in Sausalito, we did perform what our standard itinerary offers (60' to 75' stop in Sausalito). I personally understand that 1 hour in Sausalito might not be enough if you want to explore the village in more detail. Still, this 4hour tour allows our customers to visit Sausalito and Muir Woods National Park on a half-day tour only. Once the Ferry operations from Sausalito are resumed, we encourage customers to book the Muir Woods tour package with the Ferry option to enjoy more time in Sausalito and extend their day. To finalize, I understand your cost perception about the kids, but I would like you to consider that Muir Woods entrance is just a portion of the company's costs to run the tour. We are proud to be a tour company that takes care of families, so we don't charge kids under 5 and offer reduced rates for kids under 11 on all of our tours. Please contact me directly on your next visit, and I would be pleased to make arrangements to guarantee that your tour deserves a 5-star review. Xavier Gray Line San Francisco General Manager

The driver gave a great informative trip. However the eucalyptus trees were bought across during gold rush era by Australians and not the Spanish to remind them of home. Miur Woods was beautiful so glad we went.

Awesome tour experience for those without a car

Our tour guide Archie really made the experience a memorable one. The amount of time spent in Muir Woods and Sausalito was the perfect amount of time. Lots of space to walk because not too much people due to COVID. In the future might be more crowded. In the morning we got on at Fisherman’s Wharf and got off at Union Square at the end of the tour.

Disappointment at Sausalito
Jorge_V
, Jun 2021
The trip to Sausalito was disappointed because of the allotted time there, it is a very picturesque place and I was not happy at all we only had like 1 hour to spend it there, just a line for ice cream took half of that time. I suggest 2 1/2 hours there at least.

Hello Jorge, Thanks for your feedback. We truly value our customer's opinions to keep the quality of our product at the highest level possible. I have discussed your comments with my team, and we are truly sorry we did not uphold the standards of service we pride ourselves on. We agree that an hour in Sausalito might not be sufficient for those customers that want to explore the village in detail. For those customers, we offer the option to book a Ferry ride back from Sausalito to San Francisco so that they can spend additional time in Sausalito. We hope you enjoyed the marvel of the redwood trees at Muir Woods Nationa park, and thank you again for your feedback to keep improving our products. Xavier General Manager
