You may think you don’t have time for a Yosemite trip during your stay in San Francisco, but this full-day tour by luxury biodiesel van provides a stress-free way to do so. Your day trip starts with early morning hotel pickup for the drive across the Bay Bridge toward California’s Central Valley, one of the country’s largest farming regions.

During the drive, stop briefly to purchase some local nuts or fruit, lunch, or any other necessities (own expense). Continue the drive past horse and cattle ranches as you make your way into the foothills of the Sierras and Gold County, where ambitious pioneers panned for gold during the 1849 Gold Rush.

When you arrive at Yosemite National Park, start your visit with a driving tour of the park’s main natural attraction, Yosemite Valley. Stop often for photo ops of this glacial valley known for its rock formations and waterfalls, and enjoy access to some areas that big-bus tours can’t reach. See Half Dome, Yosemite’s most iconic feature, and observe daring rock climbers ascend the 3,000-foot (914-meter) sheer granite face of El Capitan. Visit Bridalveil Falls, check out the Tunnel View overlook for an expansive view of the Yosemite Valley, and head to Yosemite Falls, North America’s tallest waterfall.

You have time to buy lunch here at one of the various eatery options, and then enjoy free time to experience the park however you wish. Perhaps go for a hike, or rent a bike to cover more ground. If you’re not feeling active, make your way to the visitor’s center for informational exhibits, head to the Ansel Adams Gallery to see works by the legendary photographer, or visit the Ahwahnee Hotel for some Yosemite history.

In the late afternoon, meet back up with your group for the return drive to San Francisco, which includes one short rest stop. Arrive in the city in the evening, enjoying a twinkling view of the downtown skyline and the bay before hotel drop-off.

It was a fun trip with a group of nice people. I am from the SF Bay Area and just wanted do something a little different. I had never been to Yosemite and wanted to. I was disappointed because the falls were not active but it was amazingly beautiful. My tour guide was nice and informative. The reason for the 3 stars is the tour guide drove way too fast for my comfort and there were no falls to see but overall I enjoyed the trip.

I was very unpleased with this tour. Maybe it was just our tour date. There were delays in the morning pickup, the bus stopped a few extra times that delayed our arrival at Yosemite. Pick up was 7: 30 am and we arrived at the park 2 pm way too late. We only had till 4:30 pm to try to have lunch and do what we could.. It was a waste we spent most of the day on the bus instead of in Yosemite . Unhappy

Great tour - steamy hot bus

Yosemite was beautiful! Our guide Jay was personable and helpful. The bus was hit by a RV but Jay maintained his cool and we all stayed safe and sound. The only negative was the bus. On the way back into San Francisco it was sooooo hot. 5he air was blowing but not cold enough to cool the bus. It was hotter in the bus than at yosemite, which was hovering around 100 degrees.

    Excellent Trip

This was definitely worth the money for our family. The views, various stops we made, information provided by our tour guide, and perfect amount of time on our own we’re well planned and thought out. We also enjoyed the small group in a small bus which felt safer given the pandemic. The only downside was that the back row of seats did not get much air so it was not that comfortable on a hot day. The AC was also ‘spitting’ water throughout the time it was on so the second row from the back was feeling drops consistently.

The Risk of a Group Tour
    TriciaB

Be prepared for a long day, but you get to see SO many different landscapes (city, hills, central valley, mountains, then...oh my...the breathtaking Yosemite Valley). In spite of the hiccups, I would do this again. We had one couple who was about 20 minutes late arriving to the pick-up point (no big deal). That same couple got lost on the trails while we were in the park and arrived back at the bus about an hour late. Another two group members were about 20 minutes late getting back to the bus after our dinner break. All of this meant we didn't get back to the city until much later than expected. The one thing we felt was missing was more detailed directions from our guide once we entered the park. We were given park maps and some general guidance....but, we learned a little late that the maps aren't great and the trail signage was minimal. For us, that meant that we weren't able to complete the circuit we had hoped to do (when we realized we weren't where we thought we were on the map, we knew we had to cut our hike short in order to make it back to the bus on time). For the other couple, they were so turned around that they made the whole group an hour late.

Love the experience, I would recommend it. Small groups work really well. Only one wish, please state that NO sequoias are part of this visit.
