My Daughter and I really enjoyed this tour. The tour meet all our expectations. A shout out to Dennis one of the best tour guides I have encountered. We also did the Tybee Island Dolphin tour the next day and was happy that Dennis was also our tour guide for that tour. Thank you for two great memorable days of our girls trip.

Dennis was fantastic, so much knowledge and great storytelling. All around a wonderful person to spend a day with. We loved this tour, in fact, it was the best full day of 5 days in Savannah that we had and we tried just about everything to do there. Dennis, Thank you from the Galamb family.

With his southern charm and hospitality, its hard to find a more genteel guide than Dennis. His 5 hour excursion is well researched and full if interesting history often missed on most tours of the city. We are thrilled you enjoyed it so much! Thanks for choosing Gray Line, Galamb Family!

This would have been a 5 star review were it not for the fact that the guide said he was not going to wear a mask and was not going to be the mask police. Of the 13 people on the bus, therefore, 5 of the 13 did not wear masks to protect the other 8. This, despite the fact that it is state law.

Don't you think every tour should have a 'Cookie' stop? We are thrilled that you had so much fun with Dennis and enjoyed your excursion.

Disappointed

First of all, I was very disappointed that masks were not mandatory in the van. Even the open air tour buses that I saw around Savannah had mandatory masks. Our tour guide, Dennis, did not wear a mask over his nose and mouth in the van, talking loudly over us without a mask. I did not appreciate his description of Mary while we were at her family graves in Bonaventure. He said she “was crazy” because she didn’t follow social man made norms such as getting married. She did many wonderful things for her community! It was a total turn off for me. He pointed out homes along the drive, making derogatory comments about people with money, “being at the country club” and “having their own docks while these people have to walk down the street to their boats” etc. One comment was “I want to meet these people, I like their sign” which was “hippies use side door”. I was insulted! How ignorant is that! I came on the tour to get educated about history, not the guides personal views or comments. I learned about the white man’s role in the plantations and the building of the south, but nothing about the Slave trade or how the Black man’s free labor is what helped build the south. I went on an Underground Railroad tour for those facts. I believe it’s time to start talking about the whole truth about how the south was built. The role slavery had. I know all about “Gracie” but not one word was said about all the black children and what happened to them. If we want to be anti racist, we need to start admitting the truth. There was not one black person on our tour or in any of the tours at the cemetery or plantation. Why should they go? I love Savannah. It was my first visit. I hope these tours start incorporating the role of the Slave trade and how much the Black people gave and suffered to establish our country. So healing can take place.

Savannah has a rich and diverse history, so it can be difficult to cover everything in a few short hours. We apologize you were dissatisfied with the content of our tour and we will take your comments into consideration. Thank you for taking the time to reach out to us.
