Savannah Food Tour of the Historic District by Bus

The best feature of this food tour was that it was by air conditioned bus. It would’ve been way too hot to walk through Savannah by foot. The first stop at Corleone’s was great (although an older establishment) - best bruschetta we have ever had. The second stop was at the Wright Square Cafe. Service there was friendly but a little hasty as the food was given to us at the counter instead of at one of their tables (also wasn’t our favorite food in terms of taste -Chicken salad wrap with a string bean salad). The third stop at Bowtie Barbecue had great food and service. This food tour is great for kids particularly because of the final two stops: Byrd’s cookies (awesome cookie bar to sample from and you get a bag to fill) and River Street Sweets, where we received friendly service and a tasty bag of sweet treats. This tour included a pretty good taste of history and movies relevant to Savannah.

We enjoyed the tour. There was 5 of us in our party. We really enjoyed Gary’s narrative as we traveled between stops. The only thing we wish is that they would have 4 savory and stops and only 1 sweet stop. We had 2 sweet stops right in a row and it seemed a little much. We will definitely be interested in doing the walking foodie tour the next time we are in Savannah!

Gerry was absolutely INCREDIBLE!!! Not only was he extremely friendly, outgoing, and interactive, he was EXTREMELY knowledgeable about Savannah. We actually canceled the history tour we had scheduled for the next day because there was nothing they were going to tell us that he hadn’t already. He was also so patient with me, I had to call my bank because of some fradulent charges made to my account and was on the phone with them for an hour and a half. He went out of his way to stop at an ATM for me and Walgreens so I could grab some milk. He could have canceled the tour altogether because it was just myself and my grandmother on the tour! He also picked us up at our hotel instead of us having to meet him at the welcome center! He also bought both my grandmother and myself boxes of cookies from Byrd’s cookies and got us samples from River Street Sweets! I could go on and on and on but it’s time for me to go parasailing! If you are looking for an amazing food tour while in Savannah do not look any further! You will be disappointed if you pick anyone other than Gerry!!!

We enjoyed some delicious food with nice folks on the food tour which drove us to five restaurants. We enjoyed the interesting stories and history that our guide, Gary, told us as he drove around Savannah. He was interesting and had a nice sense of humor. It was great!

Great tour!!! Our tour guide was excellent!!! He did a great job would def take the tour again! They really take time to show you Savannah and tell you a bit of history.

We had a group of 14 people. We visited fie different sites so we got a variety of food experences. Everyone in our group enjoyed the experience.

The Savannah food tour with Gary was well done—informative, tasty, and worth the time and money. Gary’s knowledge of the city’s history and its connection with films was impressive. The five food stops were delectable and filled us up with a solid lunch. Finally, the three hours passed by quickly while leaving you satisfied that you got your money’s worth.

To start, we booked this specific tour to have access to ac on the bus. We didn't find out until we got on the bus that morning that the AC was not working on a 98 degree day. Online, this is advertised as 6 stops in the historic district and we only went to 5, well outside of the historic district. It was stated that Georgia peach tea and water are included at each place and my group had to purchase waters at one of the stops. Only 3 of the stops were specifically catered towards our tour group. The cookie and candy shops were giving the same free samples to anyone who walked in the door - nothing special for the tour group. Only 2 places included what is advertised as " soul food" or southern bbq. Overall, the host has a good amount of information but felt like we were driving aimlessly for far too long. In between 2 places, we were on the hot bus driving for over 35 minutes. This was a letdown and not accurate to what was advertised. Not worth a $60 ticket, maybe a $30 ticket at best.

Great trip for foodies. Gary, our tour director, did a great job. The food at Paula Deen’s was our favorite. Ate too much, but totally enjoyed the tour.
