Eric very knowledgeable guide. Packed with great hikes showing forest before eruption, the mitigating measures for silt diversion, forest recovery, great views of the mountain and a side stop for sasquatch lore.

Hiking Mt. Saint Helens - Aug 2020

Our guide “ELK” was very knowledgeable and took his time answering all our questions. The drive from Seattle to Mt Saint Helens was incredible, We were literally driving into the clouds and Elk was amazing driving carefully and making us feel safe but excited at the same time. We were able to see part of the mountain but the clouds didn’t let us see the peak. It didn’t matter to us, we had a great time and an adventure to remember! I would recommend to all my friends and family. Thank you Elk!

Great location, poor tour guide

Our tour started with the tour guide at the wrong hotel. She (Janice) was at a different hotel and informed us she would be 30 minute late. Once we were picked up, we finished picking up the rest of the group (there were 7 of us total--3 were in my party). Two of the guests were sick with Pneumonia (their own report) and coughed the ENTIRE time which disrupted the guide. When we asked about whether they should even be on the tour (the rest of us were concerned with getting sick), the guide was dismissive of our concerns. Needless to say, everyone in my party were sick for the remainder of our 11 day holiday. Our tour guide didn't talk much, and couldn't answer questions specifically about Mt. St. Helens due to having just moved to Seattle 2 months earlier. My 10-year old knew more about Mt. St. Helens than the tour guide. Furthermore, she was more concerned with discovering our "spirit flower" rather than learning about the mountain. I learned more about flowers than what I actually came for. Overall, the mountain was beautiful and I was able to learn about Mt. St. Helens thanks to the National Park guides, but was left VERY disappointed by this tour and the guide. I would NOT recommend this tour due to the potential of getting a poor tour guide and the cost incurred with this tour.

Hi Navigator…: I’m really sorry to hear that your Mt. St. Helens tour wasn’t everything you hoped it would be! It is such a special place and deserves to be showcased in a way that fully explores its power and history. On each of our tours, our goal is to create fun and memorable experiences for all of our guests keeping in mind their diverse interests, and it sounds like we were unsuccessful in creating those moments for you. The combination of late pick-up and miscommunication, sick travelers on board, and an unmet thirst for information would frustrate me as well! We certainly discourage guests from traveling if they are seriously ill – as much for the comfort and safety of our other guests as for their own. We want our guides’ personalities to shine through as they explore Washington with their guests, and perhaps Jann wasn’t the best fit for your group. We will discuss the challenges of this tour with her and come up with some strategies as a team on how to improve. Thank you for taking the time to leave this review. We cannot go out on every trip with our guides, so it is your feedback that allows us to grow as a team. If it’s okay with you, I would like to give you a call to learn more about your experience and what I can do to make things right! Best, Clare, Evergreen Escapes

Marissa did a great job this week on our trip to Mt. St Helens. She was prompt, on schedule and knowledgeable. Lunch was great and well presented. She did a good job of driving despite heavy traffic. It was a very enjoyable day.

Amazing Experience
Sandra N
, Aug 2018
Our tour of the Mount Saint Helens volcano and local landscape provided an opportunity to explore the geography and geology of the area and to experience first-hand the devastation and recovery of the volcano. Our guide, Marissa, was very knowledgable of the area and shared a lot of information regarding the May 18, 1980 eruption. We hiked the Hummocks Trail and a portion of the trail at the Johnston Ridge Observatory, both providing spectacular views of the Tuttle River and the crater on Mount Saint Helens. Evergreen Escapes provides quality transportation, experienced guides with excellent leadership skills, nutritious and delicious food and drinks on their trips. They are well organized, adaptable to special needs and requests and are a first rate organization.

Mount St Helen Tour

We highly recommend this 12 hour tour! Pleasant ride, plenty of beverages and snacks, and a series of stops to make the trek from Seattle more comfortable. One stop at a wildlife refuge and another at a rain forest added more interest to the tour. We pulled over at a few places to take in the view and snap photos. In the National Park, our guide Marissa laid out a wonderful lunch consisting of wine, soft drinks, grilled chicken breasts and several salads (kale, chick pea, and some sort of grain). The Johnson Visitor Center was certainly a highlight of the tour supplying us with a great video, a short hike, and clear views of Mount St Helens. On the way back we saw Mount Rainier, and stopped for a brief walk across the Skyway in Tacoma. A GREAT tour!
