Great day!

This experience was much more than I thought. We had an amazing time. The pickup was on time. We stop at a breakfast spot, where the food was delicious. Once reaching the park, we had a sightseeing tour guided by the best tour guide, Hugo. He was personable, and knowledgeable. He walks fast…be prepared. This hike is not for the weak. But well worth every moment. I could give it all away to you but it is just one of those things you need to see yourself to believe.

The whole trip was great from the Volcano to the waterfall to the hot springs! There is a LOT of hiking both up and downhill so just be prepared. Our guide Santos was very personable and knowledgeable about the nature in the area.

Alejandro and Mangera were awesome. They took their time and made sure we had a great time and enjoyed all the spots on our tour. Alejandro taught us a lot about the volcano and Costa Rica.

Cow in the cattle call

We had a nice trip once we were finally to the park. Our guide knew the park well. That’s where the good stuff ends. Getting to and from is awful. They have a meeting spot, the garden, where all of the tour need to exchange passengers. We were there over an hour for “breakfast”. The real purpose is for tour companies to exchange or pick up passengers while you wait. We had some health issues come up after a strenuous hike, which I shared with our Guide. We even decline to participate in the last stop. I told him we were having health issues and needed to get to the hotel. Instead, on the way back, we stopped one more time at the tour souvenir/restaurant. I again expressed to the tour guide that we needed to get to the hotel due to health issues. Yet, we were there for almost 2 hours. We were waiting on folks to arrive from the airport. Several times, I expressed to the guy that we needed to go. However, when the new people arrived, he took both of them to their hotels first. He went down a road that should not be traveled by cars calling it a short cut but it was in the opposite direction of our hotel. He dropped off at 2 hotels and we were last. We took the medication in the room but had to cut our vacation short and go home to be seen by a physician. Unless you want to be a cow in the cattle call, book somewhere else. No recommendation. We’ve travelled for decades and this in the WORST experience.

It's a you-see-it-all trip. We hiked and swam, and relaxed in hot springs. A very long day but we experienced some of the best points of interest here. The tour guide Hector was very knowledgable in Costa Rica's history, and very fun to chat with. It's highly recommended.

The experience was awesome. Pick up was exactly as communicated. Hugo was an amazing guide. Have a more behind the scenes type tour, as he is very knowledgeable. I would recommend the tour to anyone!

The bus driver hit a dog and may have killed it and didn’t stop on the way to the connection site. He didn’t see the dog and was driving over the lines and very fast unsafeky. Thank goodness we had a connection van for the tour itself and only had to spend from Tamarindo to the connection spot and then back home with this driver. This started off my tour in a very upsetting manner. The other driver at the connection and tour leader was great. Volcano is small but nice and the hot springs/ mud bath and waterfall are great for a swim.

There was a bit of a mix up with our pick up but the company handled it so well! There were two different resorts with similar names and our driver got confused (easy to do in a country with no addresses) but our guide was able to swing by and pick us up. Our guide shared some facts about the country on our drive and kept us informed about our progress. We stopped at a little market for coffee, snacks and souvenirs on the way there and back - a nice pick me up for a longer drive. The hike was amazing, so much to see! We were fortunate to see several spider monkeys, a sleeping sloth, an ant eater in a tree, and many more! The waterfall is indescribable, truly picturesque. The water is freezing but SO WORTH IT for the swim. After the waterfall we ate our lunch, which was a Costa Rican buffet that was one of the best meals we had on our trip. Finishing up with a mud bath and hot springs was a nice relaxing end to the tour. It was definitely busier at the hot springs but still plenty of space to spread out and have your own little area. 100% recommend this tour!

What full day of fun, interesting activities. We started with a wonderful hike in a tropical forest and were very lucky to see monkeys, an anteater, toucan, green parrots, and a tapir! Our fantastic guide Hector had so much interesting info to share. Then a trip to and a dip in a beautiful waterfall and a delicious lunch. The end to the day was volcanic mud and a soak in the hot springs. This was a really good tour, we never felt rushed, learned a lot, saw a lot and had fun. Highly recommend this tour!

Loved the hot water springs and mud bath!

Tour guide was fabulous! He had books and was great at spotting the wild life as well as sharing the names of the plants with us. The hot springs and mud bath are the best part of the tour. Be ready for a long day, bring towels, lots and lots of water (double what you think you need) and entertainment for the four hours in the car. He was an excellent driver, and got us through a number of challenging encounters. I would have liked to see more wild life but maybe that’s due to the time of year. Great time and really glad we had the experience. Would do it again! Thanks for a great experience.

The hike through the park was a great experience, including the mud bath, swim under the waterfall. But the tour guide though experienced would get irritated when asked a question and appeared disengaged, so the 3 star rating.

Most memorable was when the driver was not paying attention and we very nearly got run over by a big truck.
