Your day trip will begin with pickup from your hotel in central Vienna or the Vienna State Opera. Enjoy a scenic drive with your guide as you travel through the Hungarian countryside before arriving in the country’s bustling capital city.

On arrival, enjoy the first impressions of Hungary’s capital, sometimes called the ‘Paris of the East,’ and magnificently set across the River Danube. The famous river splits the city into two districts: Buda, the medieval quarter, and Pest, the commercial heart. Hear how these once-separate cities were united, along with nearby Obuda, to form the capital of the Austro-Hungarian Empire in 1893.

See top sites on a coach tour through Pest, passing the Parliament Building and the Opera House. Admire the statues of the Seven Chieftains of the Magyars in Heroes’ Square, sweeping panoramic views of the city from Fisherman’s Bastion and the waters of the Danube River. As you travel from each major landmark, learn the rich history behind Budapest and its architectural gems.

At lunchtime you have the option to wat in a typical Hungarian restaurant (own expense).

After lunch a walking tour through Buda awaits you. Experience the historic Royal Palace, the romantic Fishermen’s Bastion, Matthias Church, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and Margaret Island with its gorgeous parks and recreational facilities.

Your day trip will conclude with transportation back to Vienna.

My husband and I enjoyed our day trip to Budapest very much and we would both recommend this tour. We were able to make friends with some of the others on the tour and even hung out with them during our free time. A couple things that could have been better: the tour guide was very nice, but a little hard to understand. I think most of it had to do with the bus' microphone which made everything sound a little distorted and garbled. She also kept switching between Spanish and English which made it hard to concentrate. Consequently, we did not learn as much from her as we have from other tour guides on other trips. Another thing which could be improved, is to receive the list of necessary requirements more than 24hrs before the trip. I couldn't find anything listed on the tour page about Covid requirements which would have been helpful. If a PCR test is required (which it is if you don't have a vaccine), people need time to book an appointment to get the test and then wait however many hours to receive the results (especially when they only guarantee results within 24hrs). More advanced notice, or information on the tour page itself would be helpful. We appreciated that we were given a lot of free time to explore on our own. Our local guide also recommended a great restaurant where we had some amazing local food. Overall, we enjoyed our trip.

NOT AS GOOD AS EXPECTED.

Picked us up from the hotel on time. An easy way to get a small overview of the city.We really enjoyed the old city tour. For the new city they just let us near the Heroes square . Our guide in the bus suggested to all the group a nice restaurant as she said, for a lunch all together near Heroes Square . The restaurant's name is VAROSLIGET .Just avoid the restaurant and say no to the guide that insists to have there lunch. The food was awful. We all stay hungry .We just spent our money and time for a disgusting meal .

Dear xeniach, many thanks for your review, and we are really sorry that you had uncomfortable experiences in Budapest. We take your feedback seriously and naturally, it will be forwarded to the department being concerned. Apart from all, we hope you enjoyed the Hungarian capital, hope to see you soon, your VIENNA SIGHTSEEING Team

Trip was well guided. The preplanned meal was very good and a good sample of traditional Hungarian food. And it was a significant cost savings than if you ordered it off the menu yourself! Local guide was very knowledgeable but I wish we would have walked a little more so we could see the Buda Hills and take pictures of them. Instead we stayed over near the White House and prime minister building.

The meeting point for get the bus at Opera is a little bit confuse. The Pest Side guide terrible, after hours in the bus to get to Budapest,he stopped at a restaurant in Heroes Square ,gave 15 min for us to looks at the Square,no explanation at all,at the meeting point after the 15min he decided to get in the restaurant gave 40min,that means we were in Budapest for 1 hours and just visit Heroes square ,I was not in the tour to stop in the restaurant and eat,40min later,he said the other guide was late and that's why we stop at the restaurant, after that we got in the bus,the bus bus went around the same square twice with traffic. Budapest is beautiful ,I would go back to see more,I would recommend at least 4 days there, one day is not enough.

Long but good day trip out. Very helpful and informative Danielle from Vienna part of the tour and Judy the Budapest part of the tour. Both were excellent and we had the opportunity to cover quite a lot of ground, despite having only a day. Restaurant recommended near the square of Heroes was excellent - really delicious food. Thank you for the great experience

One of my 3 friends had an asthma attack early morning of our trip. We didn’t have an access to a local phone so I was”not able to tell the local office that we”Lo be late. Uber and taxi were not available either at 7am where we were staying. That was our first day in Vienna, but somehow we managed to take the public transportation. Scheduled departure time was 7:15a. The company claimed they left at 7:22a. We arrived at the place at 7:22a I could understand if there”s only one person missing..but there’s four of us. That’s a lot of money to waste. We were in a group tour in Split, Croatia last week and we waited for one person for 35 minutes.

Poor scheduling

Too much driving around the town of Budapest. The tour guides spoke broken English, hard to understand. Had to listen to three different languages . Too much talking, not enough site seeing for such a long ride. Not enough free time.

This was a great one day tour of Budapest! Our guides were very knowledgeable and friendly. They helped put everything into historical perspective, so we could understand the significance of the sites we visited. We thoroughly enjoyed this tour, but would have liked more time off the bus and walking around. Our favorite part was the walking tour of the Buda side. All in all it was a great tour!

The bus was clean and comfortable, which is good, because most of the day is spent on it. It would be better to have more free time, or option of local tour.
