Departure Time

9:00 AM
Meet your guide in central Vienna to begin your Wachau Bike Tour and join your small group aboard a comfortable Mercedes Viano minibus. Soak up the scenery as you journey south of the city, through the UNESCO-listed Wachau Cultural Landscape, with its sloping vineyards, riverside villages and medieval castles.

Jump out to admire the magnificent castle monastery of Stift Melk, before swapping your minibus for a bike and pedaling your way around Melk town center. Pause for a light lunch (own expense) in the town, before gliding out into the countryside and twisting your way through the Danube Valley.

Weave along vineyard trails and scenic hill-top tracks, jump off to walk around the 12th-century ruins of Aggstein Castle, then pick up speed as you whizz downhill towards the banks of the Danube River.

Enjoy a short cruise across the Danube on a local ferry to reach the final destination – a local winery, where you’ll be treated to a wine tasting. Sip a variety of Austrian wines or indulge in a traditional dinner (optional; extra cost), before heading back to Vienna.

We had a spectacular experience...
Gary G

We had a spectacular experience touring the picturesque towns of Melk, Krems and Spitz. Our guide, Niko Matejka, was amazing, professional, extremely knowledgeable and took us to the Gritsch Vineyards in Spitz. He shared many wonderful stories with us. We took a ferry across the Danube to the vineyards. We tasted a variety of wine and met the owner who prepared an Austrian appetizer plate for us. We were able to purchase the wine, as well. The views from the Gritsch home/vineyard were spectacular - gorgeous, lush vineyards and the owner and his staff were so nice. Additionally, our guide Niko took us to the Melk Abby and through the quaint town of Melk where we had a delicious snack at an outdoor restaurant that was a few hundred years old. We toured Schonbuhel-Aggsbach and spent time in Aggstein Castle - a ruined castle on the right bank of the Danube in Wachau, Austria. We rode our kick-bikes down the mountain from the castle - it was an exhilarating experience. I would highly recommend Viator and this experience - especially our guide, Niko. Niko was outstanding and fun! Lisa and Gary G.
