It was nice

When I booked the time to leave the dock was 9:30. No text was sent to tell us it was changed to 10:05. We arrived at 9:10 and had to wait almost an hour. Someone found an email that was buried. Why didn’t you just text us.

Relaxing trip to see Mt. Vernon

Boat trip was great, with some narration of the sights on the outward trip. Much nicer than jockeying with traffic and other tour buses to get there. Suggest having a brochure on board about the river sites and Mt. Vernon itself (the official one from the site would be great) so that people could read (they do have a wall monitor showing the boat's progress down the river in the lower cabin). Had plenty of time at Mt. Vernon to see the house and walk the grounds as well as grab a snack. Would highly recommend this over a bus tour. Price includes admission to Mt. Vernon, which makes it quite the bargain.

Mount Vernon cruise could have been much better

That day the company said they had been having trouble with Viator; wrong price, wrong location, wrong time. All we found to be true. The narration was not good on the trip down, a young man poorly reading the script. The speaker kept cutting out too. The stop in Alexandria ate up a lot of time. Too short of a time in mount vernon and we were not told that we needed to purchase tickets for the tours and get tickets ahead of time to tour the house. We needed this information. The boat was comfortable enough. Late departing on time returning.

Definitely the way to go to Mt. Vernon

Nice trip and friendly crew. Landing at Mt. Vernon was close to the home and visitor center (just over 1/4 mile walk or free shuttle). Only negative was the confusion on the house tour. It is not included with the boat ride and general admission to the grounds. Upon arrival we found the ticketing booth at the main entrance and they furnished us timed entry tickets for no extra charge. It would have been good if crew could have provided this information ahead of time.

We were switch on the type of boat we were suppose to be on. Potomac Taxi was not as nice as the riverboat. they were not good with the tour announcements. We were not told were the boat would be and almost missed it. The boat taxi was not as nice as the Riverboat yet we did not get a discount. They did not give us any maps of Mt Vernon on the dock of the Taxi. They had to make the extra stop at National Harbor both ways, which took away our time at Mt Vernon and then our time at Alexandria. It is not something I would do again or recommend to others.

Boat OK, Mount Vernon Superb

The cruise is scenic and relaxing, but the boat was not as advertised and made two completely unnecessary stops. Mount Vernon is glorious! If you go during peak season, get there as early as possible to avoid long lines and crowding whilst inside the house. Enjoy lunch at the cafe, which is inside the gift shop all the way back on the left hand side as you enter.

I was really interested to visit the historic mansion of George Washington. The trip was well organized and we're able to view everything in there. The tour guide Michael was excellent.

We were staying at the Courtyard...

We were staying at the Courtyard Convention Center Hotel, 4 blocks from the White House. Mt Vernon was one our top things to see. We took an Uber to Alexandria's water front about an 8 mile ride for about 12 one way. We were afraid we'd miss the boat, so we arrived in plenty of time ahead of departure, but Alexandria's old town is beautiful to walk around. Unfortunately the rather old boat makes 2 more stops to pick people up rather than going directly to Mt Vernon...wasting valuable time. It was full above deck and in the sun, so we sat in the slightly air-conditioned bottom deck. Someone was narrating the sites as we sailed along the Potomac, but we couldn't hear a thing down below - with people talking and the speaker system not being very good. But despite that, it is a beautiful ride and for 44pp including the price of admission, it is a great way to get to Mt. Vernon. Why be stuck on a bus? We were at Mt. Vernon for 4 hours and wished we could have stayed much longer. It is beautiful and the new museum to honor our magnificent first president, is fabulous. Nice little cafe to eat in as well. It truly touches your heart. We sailed back and had dinner in Alexandria before we took another Uber back to DC. A must see for everyone visiting DC.

What a beautiful trip! The ride up...

What a beautiful trip! The ride up the Potomac River was made special by the crew as they described the history of the area we passed. Four hours at Mt. Vernon gave me time to enjoy the beauty of the house and grounds and visit the museum and exhibits. Visiting Mt. Vernon this way gave me a chance to know the man who was our first president. George Washington was the man for the hour of our founding!

It was wonderful! They guys were so great at telling the history of the area. The perfect way to go! This tour gives you four hours, unlike others that are only three hours, and we're going to do this again next summer! Perfect!
